Keeping Eli around one more year

JerrysKids : 9/8/2019 8:19 pm
was a horrible mistake, they should have brought in another vet on less money (like a Case Keenum type) and invested in bringing in some quality veterans on defense. This is a joke of a roster defensively. I think we might have the worst defense in the history of the NFL. It's a embarrassment. Eli shouldn't be in the NFL at all, let alone taking up 20 million in salary. Epic stupid decision by management.

This is Eli's last year as a Giant. He doesn't perform nearly well enough to justify his huge cap hit.

Just way too unathletic to be in this league anymore.. Is that a word...unathletic?

The Cowboys but up 500 yards of offence...do you blame Eli for the 500 yards of offence the Cowboys put up??? Please let us know what Eli could have done to stop the Cowboys O today???

The problem with this board is too many low IQ MORONS are allowed to post!!! maybe Eric needs to allow vetted posters only...posters with a shred intelligence...DELETE YOUR POST YOU ARE PROVING YOURSELF TO BE AN IDIOT!!!

The unatheltic quote is stupid. but saying we should move on from Eli doesn’t mean we’re placing the entire teams problems on him...if you can’t separate that....you’re making this boards overall IQ lower.
I am so tired of all this talk about Eli ...
DonQuixote : 9/8/2019 11:17 pm : link
He is going to be long gone by the time we are a contender.

You all are wasting your breath talking about Eli Manning and the Giants. Just let it go.
Keeping Eli was correct
Thegratefulhead : 9/8/2019 11:17 pm : link
He deserved this chance to start. he deserves another chance Dallas is a good team everyone has agreed they were extremely talented. Eli needs to win in Buffalo to keep his job. If we go 0 and 2 we should start Jones there's no reason to keep trotting Eli out there after that.
Do people not realize that all our investment is in the offense

Yes the defense sucked.
St. Jimmy : 9/8/2019 11:50 pm : link
After the first drive, so did the offense.
I don't know what keeps Eli motivated to continue playing.
SB 42 and 46 and ? : 9/9/2019 2:15 am : link
These last few years are really dragging down his career stats. I think this year his won/loss record will dip below even. He can't have thought that there was any real shot at another championship.

Could it be the money?

It’s about the defense. Again. It’s the same defense we’ve been putting out there for 6-7 years: no impact players, no pass rush, linebackers who can’t cover. That’s why we suck. The opposition has all day to throw. Again. It doesn’t matter who’s at QB if your defense never gets a stop. Not getting that is just being obtuse or clueless.

They got 6 kickoffs after the first drive and came away with 3 points. The d made the game unwinnable but the offense was just as useless.
I just want to make sure
Prude : 9/9/2019 2:57 am : link
That evefy Eli apologist right now looks at the stats. Eli us ON PACE for 4800+ yars 16 TDs 0 interceptions and has a 95.5 passer rating.

Those numbers are completely meaningingless. This was one of the most embarassing and saddening defeats I can remember, and Eli did NOTHING to alleviate the pain. His passer rating is good, 309 yards aint to shabby, but i would rather have 25-30 other qbs play instead. Couldn't be worse.

Only on BBI do you get this kind of take

Only on BBI do we discuss this stuff, and if you do not think the game has passed Eli by then you need to watch the game more closely

LOL, He had over 300 yards Spanky, how did the game pass him bye? Please enlighten us!

He only put up 3 points in between the first drive and the last drive(during a blowout where Dallas's defense was more worried about what they were going to have for dinner than getting a stop) of the game. Did you watch it?

Uselessin the red zone. Useless in long yardage. Useless on 3rd down but he has a 95 passer rating, let's give him a 5 year extension.

Did the OP say that it was Eli's fault? Or just that it was pointless to bring him back on this crappy roster rather than just getting a cheap placeholder QB and fortifying the defense?

I'm pretty sure whatever triggered your defensiveness happened in your own head there, so maybe don't start with the "only on BBI" bullshit?

But we continue to see Eli not really making a difference, so the clock ticks...

I agree with this assessment. We all know Eli is merely a mediocre qb with lifetime mediocre stats....and basically has always been mediocre save a few great moments at the end of the two super bowls when he had a great defense to keep the score low.

I think out of respect he was given this final chance to show us what he has. But clearly his physical skill sets are inferior to DJ, so I think the change will happen sooner than later.

For all our investment

In offense - we now have an average OL, a plus receiving TE, a crappy WR core, and average QB play. Eli didn’t look great, but who besides Engram was open? Missing Tate hurts. Shep needs to catch the damn ball I. The endzone as well. We had a stat this preseason about having some of the lowest separation per WR vs. CB.

Would also love to see some positive flashes from *any* of the new secondary. Thank goodness Jenkins is at least on the team.

Sorry - had to vent - that was such a disappointing game on so many levels.

1 bad play on Sunday. Brees had a few. Brady missed an easy 2 yard pass he threw in the dirt. It's unreal how critical we are of Eli.

QBR from this weekend:

Eli - 22.4
Brady - 90
Breed - 78.2

Let me anticipate - this stat is skewed anti-Giants/Eli because the media hates the Giants...right?
I don't think a lot of Giants fans

Watch other teams play. Baker had 3 picks and held on to the ball way to long on too many occasions leading to sacks and fumbles.

Darnold looked bad most of the game. So did Josh Allen. Kyler Murray completed just over 50% of his passes lol. Brees threw a bad pick. Rodgers and Trubisky looked bad most of the game. Rodgers threw off his back foot and threw multiple bad passes. Matt Ryan had 3 picks. Jared Goff threw for 186 yards and a pick. Should I go on?

Eli missed Shepard and tried to run for a 1st down instead. That was his worst play.

I believe he is using ESPN's rating. Convenient huh? The offense moved the ball against what is supposed to be a very good defense.

hostage to mediocre football as a fan. Play the kid and stop wasting all of our time. And before the “E Hive” attacks me don’t get it twisted folks. I have a ton of love and respect for #10 but it’s been time to turn the page for quite a while now and NO he wasn’t the reason we lost the other day but I’d rather see the young kids grow together as a team. Of course if the Giants somehow rip off the next 3 straight in convincing fashion that could change a lot of opinions here but sadly I don’t see that happening.

QBR and passer rating are not the same stat.

Considering, I watched the game and Eli played average at worst, I'd say QBR is the inferior rating system.
I don't trust rating system that you can't verify
Bramton1 : 9/10/2019 12:34 pm : link
Otherwise, it's susceptible to manipulation in order to feed a narrative you're trying to tell.

Because Eli wasn't horrible. He was average. At times, above average. At times, below average. But according to QBR, he was dreadful.

Let's compare Eli to Baker Mayfield. Both QBs on teams that got blown out. Eli had the fumble and was sacked once. Mayfield threw three picks and was sacked six times. QBR said Mayfield had the better game.

Watched the entire Brown's game. Baker was better. Bakers lost his starting LT to ejection then another OL went out shortly after. So he had 2 back ups playing on the OL and a 3rd out of position because they had to slide someone over. The team also had almost 200 yards in penalties that were not his fault. I would remove week 1 Baker from any kind of comparison. Outlier.
