I thought the new rule allowed a team to challenge a call or no call period? Why did Buck and Troy say that due to it being 2 minutes in the half it was a booth review only????
That makes absolutely no sense!!!???? The no call in the Saints Rams play off game was at the end. Did I miss something?? Why the hell couldn't Shurmer challenge the Hail mary pass?
Oh and the Refs SUCK!!!!!!!!!!
Shurmur was very well aware of the rule. He said in the post game interview that he intentionally threw the flag to get the attention of the referees and replay officials to look at the play. He knew he couldn't challenge it

If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

I totally believe it. What's the downside to tossing it even if you know the rule? There wasn't going to be a penalty for throwing the flag, and there was a small chance that it brought extra attention to that aspect of the play. If nothing else, it got the refs to confirm to him that it had in fact been looked at and considered.

Downside is a 15-yard penalty... if it was Garrett who threw the red flag there would be people complaining that the fix was in and citing that as one of the reasons.

I guess you are another guy that doesn’t know the rules. Shurmur could’ve been penalized for throwing the red flag there. The refs gave him a break.
Still, then I guess my criticism of the coach would be that he risked taking that penalty rather than jumping to the conclusion that he didn't know the rule.
