I don't expect much from this team but New England is the only definite loss on the schedule over the next six weeks. I'm willing to give this a little time.

it could very well get worse...much worse. I have no faith in Shurmer at this point. I hope I am wrong.

The team looked better than last year especially the line!
Eli looked sharp and Engram also made some plays.
Its a long season and with the schedule 8-8 or 9-7 is a possibility if the rookies improve.
Schurmer's play calling is concerning as I feel he really needs to pound Barkley 20 to 25 carries a game. Keep the D off the field! Also need a better return game.

Is a proven loser at the head coaching/nfl level. It�s what he does, he generates losing records. Who were the other candidates.....makes you wonder. The only thing guaranteed with shurmur, is: no playoff appearances and high value draft picks......that�s about it.

We really should have hired Vrabel. He would have ensured I do not have to endure again shitgrinning Jerry and Garett out coaching Shurmur.

(at least the original post). If you didn�t expect bumps with this young D you weren�t being realistic. Most of the major issues in the secondary were mental mistakes. That is the good news. Those can be fixed.

With that said, I don�t think Hamilton should be on the field. At least put in Ballentine or Love and let them learn something.

Very few players executed well. This coaching staff has the defense playing worse. Is the coordinator capable of fixing mental mistakes in a dozen players or so? It doesn't seem that the pre-season and practices will be sufficient to get the defense actually prepared to play an NFL game.

We will improve. The D was bound to be shaky -- youth/rookies, first game, against solid opponent -- and it was.

If we had to be bad and lose, I'm almost glad we were THAT bad. DeAndre "Mr. I Didn't Allow a TD in My Last 2 Years of College" Baker got completely toasted for a long TD. Good, come back down to earth and get hungry for the next game. Jones got on the field for 2 minutes, and fumbled -- again. Good, value your time there, be embarrassed, and vow not to do it again.

Agree Hamilton needs to go -- but he is one guy.

Right now this season seems more like a watch and wait game for when Jones starts the new era.

Hard to see this defense improving to the pt where Eli gets to keep his job.

I didn't see anyone stepping up when the coach quit. Coach Phil Weston but there is a I in WIN.

I usually stay away from here after losses because many people speak out of anger and emotion rather than out of logic and common sense.

Like you said, we are very very young on defense, so if anyone expected a bunch of first year players to come in a dominate a playoff team week one is either delusional or I hate to say it, not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I agree, our defense should evolve as they young men mature through experience and we won�t be playing teams with a superior OL every week you know.

defense is young and I expected Dallas to score points. I was more upset with the offense as they should have scored a lot of points yesterday. Eli needs to go and Giants need to make the change.

Score points? They were non-competitive. Dallas could have put up a fifty burger of they wanted to.

Most of us thought 2020 was key year. We got blitzed away from home by a very good football team. That shit happens. On to the next. The defense was projected ot be a big weakness but also projected to improve. Let's see if they imrpove. Hopefully they will.

Also-- let's see if the coaching staff improves. In particular imo Shurmur. Stop rolling out Eli while you are getting good protection. and give the ball to Barkley more on 3rd and short or 4th and short. Think of something more creative if you don't think he has the power.
