What bothers me about the defense (coaching)

I know there are lots of kids out there. I expect growing pains.

I am ok with Baker and Love and Ballentine getting toasted as they learn how to play in this league.

I'm ok with Carter still learning how to rush the pass and DLaw and Hill refine their games to become better pass rushers.

Golden was a good low risk signing to see what he has.

I wasn't expecting miracles. But I was expecting a well coached defense. The VETS had no clue what they were doing out there today. Peppers? Thomas? Bethea? Ogeltree? These guys were LOST. There are not rookies out there learning how to play.

I've said this before but I'm very pessimistic about this coaching staff.

We�re the vets covering up for blown coverage?

Or was it miscommunication? There was a lot of confusion IMO and Zone was not working for us either. Even the vets back there are new to this D. Let�s see if they can improve over next few games before we start blaming the coaches.

I agree.....looked like our defensive backs were wearing blindfolds, especially in the secondary, our scouting dept. needs new stop watches, no team speed at all, maras once again need to broom this group, from gm down out of the building.......ASAP.

it's ogletree peppers and bethea. the vets and leaders of the defense. that's the part that bothers me the most

We heard all off season how Bethea is a Bettcher system expert, another coach out there blah blah. Yet nobody seems to know their assignment.

We supposedly run a hybrid 3-4 , 1 gap defense

Usually this is an aggressive, blitzing, man coverage, cover 1. But I see our CB�s playing way off the WR, blitzes are poorly timed and we aren�t shooting gaps quick enough.

This to me seems like a combo of poor coaching and lack of talent.

We don�t really have a great OLB to get pressure. We will need a true FS to make this scheme work.

Maybe another week or so and our defense will play better

Jumping play action/double moves and getting beat over the top
I was not a fan of his coming out of college and he has not been able to pick up the position yet....

This blitz happy high risk high reward

Butcher D scares me. I much rather prefer giving up short yardage let the other team make the mistake first ala Belichek.

Can we bring back fewell??

the whole is less than the sum of its parts. But the defense far more so. The team invested heavily in the defense in the off season and draft . . . .

Yes, there are a lot of young players. And, yes, there are a lot of vets on the down side of their career, and Dallas is a good team, BUT . . . .

Irrespective of that, this defensive system isn't working very well. Either it's not designed very well, or taught very well, of the players aren't executing it very well. And no matter which, it all lands on Betcher's doorstep.

Interesting watching Baker chase receivers. Watch the tapes.Apparently, when running and cutting hard, he is limping. I do not think his knee is healed sufficiently.

As for Hamilton, how many mistackles and outright missed coverages by him and Betcher & Co. left him in the game all day.

What the hell was going on in the middle of the field. It was open all game long. I have never seen that before in all my years watching the Giants.
