1.Our young guys got some experience. It wasn’t pretty, but it was necessary.
2. We didn’t give up any long runs against a great run blocking unit.
3. The offensive line actually looks like a group of professionals. That’s an improvement over recent years.
4. Evan Engram looks to have improved, catching and blocking.
Anybody got anything else?
decent against the run today that's the only positive on defense.
Barkley is awesome and Ingram was very good today, maybe the best since he was drafted.
The rest needs a lot of work
Barkley with improved OL will be great.
Defense can not possibly play worse
i can do this all night...
Thanks for the healthy chortle.
Also speak for yourself.
The offensive line was improved
The defense was better then I expected versus the run
BJ Hill had a solid game
We might get to see Jones sooner then expected
O Line is definitely better. Barring injury, might even get a little better w/ experience, cohesion. And that could do wonders for Barkley.
Engram is clearly a gamer and a weapon. Love Gallman -- he could be the #1 back on a lot of teams. Connelly plays hungry -- might not be Mr. Upside but I like him.
On the other hand, our WR corps is a committee of look-alikes. I don't think they're gonna scare anyone.
Worst, I just don't see how we're gonna have ANY pass rush this year. We keep talking about what is Bettcher gonna do? Who's going to step up? But I just don't think we have anyone. ER will be #1 priority in Draft or FA, or both.

Agree with your points - pretty happy with Engram and the OL. I was really disappointed in Shep. He should have made a sharper cut and caught the damn pass that hit him in the hands. Missing Tate is going to hurt for the next few games.
I know a bunch of BBIers were giddy with optimistic anticipation of the season, but that was never realistic.
The defense has too many 1st and 2nd year players, who are bound to be inconsistent and make lots of mistakes. The LBs are just not that good period.
The OL is probably a little below average and has essentially 3 new players who need to gel. The WRs are below average.
Laying a stinker in the first game against one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the NFC was predictable (I did predict it...)
I've said this many times since the spring. What we need to be watching for is improvement as the season progresses, and improvement over last year.
So why only 10 points during relevant time?
And Dallas defense has been good for a while
We didn't have anymore threats in passing game at the end of last season when we scored all those points on Dallas, did we?

They are threats if you have a real number 1. I don't know why you would compare a game that happened last year to this game.
There are more elements that go into the passing game than just protection. Guys have to get open, catch the ball, qb has to know when and where to deliver the ball. Coach has to make it difficult for defense to decipher what you are doing.
Now we need a true #1...which is it?
Why are you assigning the thoughts/opinions of others to me?
I rarely put a lot of stock in a single game.
It feels like the defensive game plan is to show Eli an easy completion. If you give him a short pass with someone wide open and someone right there to tackle them he's going to throw it and you can tackle them, 1-2 yard completion. Far too many times we needed a third down to stay in the game and Eli through pass that had no chance of getting a first down. I don't care what the completion percentage is, I don't care what the QB rating is, that is just not going to get it done and it isn't good enough.

I completely agree with this. Eli was not the reason we lost but he needs to play better if we are going to win. He needs to push the ball downfield. I would also like to know why we didnt use SB? Was Eli calling audibles or was that Shurmur? I have to believe it was Shurmur. We draft a RB who looks like a HOFer already and we barely use him. We try to run an old QB and a FB instead of a young stud RB. That changed the game.

Yep, I should move on and I will. Perhaps you should take your own advice when you're going back and forth with posters in what seems to be a battle of the last word.
Sundays and Mondays are going to be like this for awhile so...
