If anyone has ever read Spy the Lie or anything with the topic of cues for lying, this presser would light up their test. Spy the Lie was written by retired CIA interrogators - basic concept is look for clusters of cues in the first 2-5 seconds of an answer. Itching, swaying, eye avoidance, voice moderation.
Watch the whole presser - when there are questions with clean answers, no matter how difficult - he has strong posture, eye contact, direct. Watch him during discussions of Eli / 3rd down effectiveness / checking down.
He turns into Woogie from Something About Mary
BTW, I'm not talking about not knowing the word 'disconcerting' - I'll give him a pass on that.

They are just trying to survive press conferences until they can put DJ in. And now we know the protection is decent it is going to be sooner rather later than later. Shurmur can't hide his giddiness when talking about him. He's been around the game for a while and when a rookie performs like he has in practice he knows its his ticket.
I think the people coming for Shurmurs head after this game are a bit unreasonable. It comes down to the players. Defensively, we didn't have a single guy who was winning his 1v1 matchup. No pass rushers, no corners (except for maybe Jenkins), etc.
It is even more disconcerting that people even care about that at all....
I don't disagree that Hamilton sucked today. But you don't just get a better vet. If one was available or if they grew on trees that would be different. And a 6th round pick from a DII team has a huge learning curve. I like what I see from him, but Hamilton looked very good in camp too. And remember Baker's rep coming out of college as almost a shutdown corner. How did he do today?
He's getting attacked in the press because after 2 years of a complete restructuring of a team that was horribly put together prior to him the media wants results. I understand that but this was always a 3-year rebuilding and he knows he's going to have to put up with the MSM rabid dogs for this whole season. Add that and obvious defensive breakdowns to the refs and you have a very pissed off frustrated coach.
It's the first game against a supposed SB contender in their house (why that happens every year is crap to me) and we knew we need at least one more year to shore up the holes we have.
LOL...Brilliant!

I fear.
The earliest he’d get canned is after 2020 and things would have to remain dreadful with Jones not progressing at all for that to happen, in my opinion. I think Shurmur is here for his full 5 year deal.
Shurmur is at the crossroads of his Head Coaching career. If the Giants regress from last season, he is gone.
Are any fans out their confident in this guy? That was worst way to start the season for this team. Lose to Dallas, I can live with that, Dallas could have scored 50 is they didn't pity the Giants and ease up.
After Buffalo smokes the Giants next week the team will crater. Shurmur knows it and is desperately thinking of ways to feature Penny and Gallman next week to ensure Barkley stays around a dozen touches. Resting Barkley seems to be a goal for him. Guess he wants to keep him healthy for the next HC.He is clueless on how to help the D which proved yesterday it is non-competitive.
Please, tell us more about the Pats. Riveting stuff.
Vrabel was there for the taking instead of Shufmur. Oy vey.

The Giants wanted a guy who was a "QB guy" to work with Eli's shortcomings and the new QB who they knew they would be drafting soon.
They also wanted someone who fit the particular personality and face of franchise that the owners were looking for.
For a CB to have his lunch money stolen (punked) like Hamilton did was an embarrassment. Like I said in my prediction:
SB will post better numbers then Zeke, Giants D not ready for prime time.
hey buddy - no one is claiming to be CIA. I think that you might take your own advice - go outside, relax and enjoy the weather. There's no need to insult people interested in this discussion as pathetic.
We're just having some fun with a topic of WHAT IS THE COACH REALLY THINKING? Of course we can't know for sure but this is one theory. If you disagree, there are better ways to do that.
I saw someone confident, even defiant, in every aspect of the Presser except when he was speaking about Eli and the 3rd down success rate. I see someone who knows that Eli isn't executing his offense, the way he he'd like - but is nervous to admit it publicly. He had no problem telling it like it is on every other answer - the refs, the coverage, the rookies, etc.
5 carries at the half? No excuse for that.

why would a 13 year vet need a QB guy?
Are you so fucking moronic that you don't get the irony of that steaming pile of shit??
If there is only one organization hiring good HC's then what are the fucking chances the Giants hire a good HC??
That is shake your fucking head worthy!
