When the game mattered

Junior22 : 9/9/2019 7:00 am
In the first half the Giants has 7 points and Eli had 110 passing yards on 19 freaking passes. You blind fans think he was sharp because of his final numbers when game was set vs prevent defense and a ton of check downs.

Defense sucked bad

Eli once again led team when it mattered to 10 points

Last 5 years people blamed the oline but yesterday he had excellent protection and results were the same

Wanna help your young defense? How about sustain drives
The team

Stinks, and horribly coached. There is little talent and less brains. Shurmur is a coordinator, not a head coach. Jones would be a disaster in this shitshow

Yep. Shurmur is on shakier ground than most BBIers realize.

Don't agree he's on the hot seat right now. The team hasn't quit on him.

He shouldn't be until he fails with his QB. He's forced to play a QB that doesn't fit his style of offense.
why shocked?

McAdoo was correct Eli was done 3 years ago

Gentlemen win now by trading away all defensive leadership

this team will not win 4 games this year

this shit statement of "when the game mattered".

When the game started, the Giants got out to a 7-0 lead. It didn't even last a drive.

Then, the HC was so focused on the game mattering that we went for several 4th downs. When the game mattered, we were driving to try and tie it and were called for a bizarre grounding, one play after missing a too many men on the field call which was right after missing a facemask on Barkley. That cost us points.

We passed up at least 3 chances for FG's and ended up with nothing on those drives. And if you ask yourself why, you'll realize it is because the HC knew the D wasn't going to be making stops.
I love Eli

But a 16 year vet should know that he can heave the ball out of bounds to avoid that intentional grounding call. He also looks scared to hold the ball long enough for something to develop.

Except that it was a bad call.

You can also throw it to the feet of a receiver..
One thing I just don't get about all the Eli talk...
M.S. : 9/9/2019 10:18 am : link

...he had practically NOTHING to do with why the Giants got cold-cocked yesterday.

You can throw Eli's roll-outs in the garbage, but Eli did NOT have a bad game yesterday.

Our defense sucked.

Our defensive coordinator sucked.

And our Head Coach sucked.

But Eli did not suck.

I agree but that is far too low a bar when you draft a QB at 6. For Manning to keep his job he needs to be good and the Giants need to win. Not sucking is not good enough. I think Manning deserves to start against Buffalo but if they don't win I think Jones should start.

So the offense having 10 points when it mattered means not on eli. He threw 19 passes for 105 yards in first half. I mean wtf

Last year you people blamed oline and now that is much improved but eli played well or not on him? This is who eli is and has been for a long time now. Jones would not produce 10 points?
When it mattered Eli played pretty well

We had a TD, and a few other drives into Dallas territory. We went for a few 4th downs, and also scored on our first drive in the 2nd half. The issue is the defense was horrid. Dallas had 80+ yd drives the first 5 times they touched the ball. The Giants O had to be perfect against a tough Dallas D in Dallas.

The offense needed more touches, all offenses do. If some of you think its ok for the D to give up 35 pts in 3 quarters, and its the offenses fault for that, I don't know what to tell you

Im not sure I agree with this assertion

Chance 1- 4th and 5 at Dallas 44 down 21-7 with 8 seconds in half. This is a 61 yd FG attempt. If missed Dallas gets their own FG shot as the actually had TOs left inlike Giants. Is this really a not trusting D situation or more a not really in FG range type spot? The D barely comes into play not enough time

Chance 2- 4th and 8 at Dallas 40 to open 3rd. This is a 57 FG attempt . Again is this really a situation of the trusting the D or thinking this is a reslly tough FG to make?

Chance 3- 4th and 1 at Dallas 7. 3 mins left in 3Q down 28-10. This is your best case as its a gimme FG but the game was virtually over so i think this is more lets try and get back in this, its a yard vs making it 28-13.

I see poor FG distance attempts and tough situations in game time as the reason for the 4th down attempts
There may be games this season where

you will be able to point towards Eli and say he was the reason for the loss. This wasn't one of them, and that people are making that argument goes to prove at what lengths some will go blame Eli.
