Teams who had worse openers than us...

Chris684 : 9/9/2019 8:27 am
Bears (3 points @ home)
Jets (blown 16-0 lead @ home in the division)
Browns (expectations?)
Lions (blown 24-6 lead)
Steelers (blown out by 30 points, scored 3)
Jaguars (QB done, probably for the year)

We need to take a breath. This was never going to be a win. Dallas is better than most anyone here wants to give them credit for. No other team has the honor of going to Dallas for their home opener year in and year out and play them and the refs.

Is the score not different if Dallas gets called for 12 men? Or they can't tackle our WR in the end zone? Or our player being engaged into the runner nullifies the fair catch interference call?

A few other things.

The utilization (or lack thereof) of Saquon needs to be corrected immediately.

Antonio Hamilton needs to be sat down immediately. If yesterday is the best Bethea and Hamilton can do, get Ballentine and Love more playing time.

Curious as to why no Rosas attempt from 60ish yards before the half. They could have played that whole sequence much better.

I think that was the turning point of the entire game. We had Dallass on their heels at that point and a score there would have changed the way the game went IMO. As bad as the refs were at least they did call some Dallass holds.
Dolphins?

They donít look like a NFL team.

Dolphins who look like a JV team
I left the Dolphins out because they're known to be tanking...

But I could have mentioned the Bucs and Jameis's latest pitiful performance as they are trying to salvage his career.
Browns by far

I had no idea the titans knew they could throw a forward pass
I couldn't care less. I am not a fan of the Bears, or the Steelers

or whoever. I didn't expect the Giants to win, but I also thought the defense would be competitive. It looked like they were playing the two's against the Cowboys one's.

This team should be stronger then crumble on 1 call or a play. It's like everything has to go right to have a chance to win. We were losing the game no matter what.
Browns and Steelers

Both got torched. Steelers always lose to New England and I felt like they were a 7-9 team anyway. Browns I thought would be really good but that performance was shocking.

Going into the season I though Jets-Browns in Week 2 would be a good matchup of up and coming teams and a launching pad for one of them. Based on yesterday it actually looks like a game where the loser might sink a lot further than expected.
Steelers looked somewhat like us...

.....Big Ben really looked out of it.
Washington?

Been getting this advice here for far too many consecutive Septembers. And that breath has rarely been correct. The panic has always been justifiable.
It's moral victory time!

Where other teams are worse off for losing close contests to division opponents than the Giants are for looking completely non-competitive and discombobulated.

Cowboys are a top team in the league. The hope should be that we get better as our young players gain experience.

I don't think most reasonable people consider them a competitive team at all. They are driving the Tank this season.

To me...

The Browns were dreadful yesterday.

As mentioned, they were home and carrying big expectations. And they were dominated - coaching wise, execution, and physically.

BTW, Vrabel looks to be joining O'Brien as two coaches who are fairly competent off the BB Coaching Tree...
1964 Giants lost 38-7 to
aquidneck : 9/9/2019 12:43 pm : link
a mediocre Philadelphia Eagles squad that eventually finished 6-8.

Coming off a loss in the NFL championship game, the Giants began their "15 years of lousy football" era by floundering their way to a 2-10-2 finish.
