I'm a founding member of the move on from Manning club, and even I can see he can operate an offense. On no planet did he play a bad game.
What's fascinating is what is the identity of this offense, and what Shurmur wants from Manning and the surrounding cast operating in it.
Do you guys think Manning can succeed in a WCO without a big time WR freeing up some of the pressure?
Disconcerting things from last night:
- Designed rollouts for 38-year-old Manning are dangerous, he's slow to the spot and it's not buying him more time. The penalties on rollouts were lame, but Manning looked uncomfortable on both plays and got smashed.
- No one knows the distribution of check downs vs. designed short passes, but it's year 15 and the QB is just not crisp on these throws, they need to be limited.
- Sterling Shepard averaging 7 yards per reception is either a symptom or cause of the offense getting choked close the LOS.
- 11 carries for Barkley is fire-able, even if the Giants are behind, the biggest threat for a big play is Barkley. Heck, Barkley is the best bet for a positive play. Eli Penny ok 3rd and short? Lol.
Positive things from last night:
- Engram looks like the guy Reese expected, he's faster than linebackers and corners, and he looks fluid out there now.
- Zeitler is as advertised in pass-pro, his name wasn't brought up at all (a good thing).
- Manning still can whip it out there to the sideline, fabulous throw to Latimer on that big gain. I doubted he still had that throw.
Cutting Lauletta really seemed to send the wrong message to a young team, bad coaching by Shurmor.
It should be. But based on yesterday's results can you say it is?
The Giants O has amnesia - it doesn't know who it is or what it's supposed to be doing. The D had a pretty strong case of that as well.

Quite simple. It's Saquon Barkley.

Yep 👍
Say what now?
Option 2
Dont give it to Barkley and pray
Great post - perfectly exemplifies why so many consider you to be among the very worst posters here.
Keep up the great work Coach!
They will need to pass the ball, with yards after the catch, to move it down the field in chunks during games...like everybody else.
When we get down to the Red Zone, I have no answers as Eli & Co do not have a good makeup of talents to score at a reliable clip. Obviously play-action is #1 choice but how many chances do you get at that...one?
I agree about the roll-outs with Eli. If we compared the OL to last years at this time it is night and day.
Hopefully, the offense takes a big step next week but unless the defense can at least be average this season will get out of control quickly.
This is a terrible post. Engram is a freak at TE. 2nd best part of the offense. His problem is staying healthy.

Put him out wide, run routes against a LB. Can you imagine what could happen with SB running a slany? Jet sweep with him. Bubble screen with the Maurice Carthon of WRs Sharpe. Anything, not the predictable crap Dallas had diagnosed all day, like the fake screen the receiver got lit up. They watch our film ffs.
And what coach would be dumb enough to hand off to Barry Sanders 5 times a game, boggles the mind.
Is every route a buttonhook?
All during the 1:00 PM games and then during our games, there were gamebreaks where QB's were leading their WR's into the end-zone.
Wentz to Jackson, Wentz to Ertz, Wentz to Jeffrey....all designed for YAC's.....
Our stupid, grind to a halt offense is run 8 yards, turn around, maybe catch the ball and get tackled!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
The focus needs to be on the defense
Could you pass that on to Shurmur...
This Offensive Line has improved and we have Barkley back there making plays. Stick to the run until the opposing teams force you out of it. Under no circumstance should Barkley be touching the ball less than 20 times.
