Discouraged

PhilD : 9/9/2019 12:41 pm
I did not feel that the Giants could beat the Cowboys. I did feel that they would be competitive. They were not. There was nothing on defense that we could say we could build on. No pass rush. Cowboy receivers wide open. No one stood out in a positive way.

On offense it looked like Eli's primary target was the saftey valve receiver.

I do not know if this is Eli or play calling.

As we have been saying for a few years, there is no place to go but up. I hope we have finally hit rock bottom.
The Defense played to my expectation.

I just HOPED that I was wrong, and as a fan and football layman, they were better than I could expect. Also, I hoped that the coaches had an effective game plan for this group that would allow them to be effective. They did not, and they were not.
This is the bottleneck that I expect for the entire season, and why I do not see more than 6 wins for this team.

On offense, the play calling was just... It's been covered here ad nauseum.
Dallas is good

Buffalo is the benchmark. I think Dallas will make a number of teams look bad this year. They are talented and deep.
There is no difference from the last two years where they went 8-24
moespree : 9/9/2019 12:54 pm : link
Not better, not worse, exactly the same. Some different players, same problems. I would not expect some miracle turnaround and it seems apparent that this season will be another copy of the last two.

If there's any hope at all, at least there is a young QB on the team now. Whether he'll be good or bad who knows, but at least they have something they can pin some hopes on.
This season

Reminds me of 1995. After a solid end to the 94 campaign winning 6 straight, many fans felt the Giants could challenge for the East title. Then in the first week the Cowboys punched the Giants in the face with a 35-0 beating en route to a 5-11 campaign. The end of last season similarly got fans’ hopes up that the arrow was in the right direction.
Yeah, defense looked completely lost out there

I have very little faith on the coaching on the defensive side of the ball. Year 2, I expected a significant jump forward, not backward.
The offense had opportunites to put up more than 17 points, bad play
SterlingArcher : 9/9/2019 1:07 pm : link
calling and poor execution caused them to miss those opportunities. Say what you want about Eli, he did not play defense, he was not the one who was getting stiff armed like school yard punk, he was not the one that got beat like a drum by the cowturd WR's, he was not the one that a geriatric Jason Witten ran by for a td. Hopefully the defense will play better next week, hopefully they will find a pass rush between now and then.

I'm with Sterling, Yes the defense was bad.....but the Giants had 470 yds of offense and could have and should have scored more points.

We still would have lost, but the offense has to execute too!
I'm resigned.

I don't even get mad anymore. I'm just numb to losing.
as earlier stated, Buffalo is the benchmark

If they march down the field, all over us, we are in big trouble this year.

Let's be patient, hope for a bounce back campaign next week.

The bottom is when management kicks...

LOL, my wife was like "you yelled once in the First Quarter, you ok?"

I was like "yes, they got me excited scoring the first TD, but then it went back to shit again and I am not going to get all worked up".

I advocated trading down from pick 6 and drafting all D.

Obviously, Daniel Jones, if the real deal is worth the pick, hadn't looked last draft,so mean culpa,

but our safety and lb roster isn't up to the task so far, and we could use that lb/edge unique talent.

Can Pepper's turn and run with a TE even? WTF

I don't blame betcher. It's the talent level on D and maybe the position coaches as well.
Carter a lb, might be a better safety
idiotsavant : 9/9/2019 4:58 pm : link
Than Pepper's .
