Meaningful football in December

Reale01 : 9/9/2019 1:49 pm

Each year I hope we will be playing meaningful football games in December. Many here seem to have already given up on the season. If we are as bad as some say, the December 15, game vs. Miami could be a big game for the franchise.

I see the Cowboy game as one game. I still think this team can be good, but clearly they are a long way from beating Dallas based on this week.

The defense is young and COULD improve. The offense showed some good potential vs a very good defense. It's hard to play offense when you sit for 20 minutes between possessions while the other team drives the length of the field.

I still believe that the end of season matchups with the Eagles can be meaningful games. Although I hoped for a win yesterday, 0-1 was always more likely. The next three games will give a good indication of where they stand.

I continue to hope the two December games vs Philly will have meaning this year.
"meaningful football" is such a stupid, trite phrase

Is to root for either Army or Navy ... (or maybe Clemson).

you have to take joy in watching the young kids develop. Kids have to learn how to compete before the team can learn how to win.
I would be

it's also a ridiculously low bar these days. With 6 playoff teams in each conference and the regular season ending late in the month you can be 5-7 and still playing "meaningful games" in December.
The next three games are critical

in that Buffalo, Tampa, and Washington are all games that you certainly CAN win and probably SHOULD win, and really MUST win if you are going to be a playoff team.

We play the Vikings at home week 5 and the Pats in New England week 6. Then a 10 day break. I think the Giants will change to Jones for sure if we are 2-4 and probably if we are 3-3.

There is no margin for error for Eli. He played well on Sunday - but it won't matter if we are losing.
Meaningful football in December......

Start following the patriots mid November, most likely the now last place nfc east giants will remain in last place till they clean coaching/scouting house.
Talk of only "meaningful football"

Should be left to December if relavant.

Good luck with that! Using that phrase use in Dec in same sentence with "NY Giants" would be a miracle!

Buffalo, Tampa and Wash are all saying the same thing about playing the giants.

100% agree. They absolutely believe they will beat the Giants. These are the games that make you a 500 team. You need to pick up to get into contention and win a couple vs the better teams to get to the playoffs.
We will

Be playing meaningful football, a loss to Miami should wrap up the top pick, we will trade it away to add picks, we take the mantle from the Browns while Gettleman tells us all the super bowl teams he build. The Giants extend Shurmur through 2025, Gettleman vows to get Shurmur a ring. Giant fans officilly go on suicide watch.
One week into the season and BBI Nimrods on

suicide watch . There is just enough parody in the NFL
if you can beat a few teams that your basically equal to
you can grab a wildcard spot . Lets beat Buffalo
first before we talk the 2020 draft already my God .
