One thing that I believe, over time, will work in our favor is Zeitler for Vernon.
In Zeitler I feel like we have the type of guard that can contend for a pro bowl spot in the coming years. His work ethic, equally, is second to none in the locker room.
Whereas Vernon, in my mind, is on the decline of his career due to injuries. He didn't have as much as a tackle yesterday; and god knows the Browns missed Z's blocking. Sure, when healthy Vernon will get some sacks, and god knows we need them.
But overall, gun to head and even after yesterday's debacle on defense, I'd still take Zeitler over Vernon.
100 of Barkleys 120 rushing yards were to the left (at least that's what I read - no idea if Zeitler pulled at all though)
I saw it too, and yeah I kept thinking it was a false start. He wasn't getting set before doing it, though, which I think is why it wasn't.
No idea what it was all about, though.
Someone here explained it last week. They use Zeitler to check back with the QB for his calls instead of the center doing it. We're not the only team doing that.
It’s very frustrating to see us try to shoehorn something we know isn’t going to work.
Shurmer said something like, "It's a bit weird and took a little getting used to, but now it's normal."

If that's true I stand corrected.

Can be simply "wish we saw more of Barkley running..."
RUN BARKLEY!
MY HEAD ALMOST EXPLODED ON 3RD AND 4TH DOWN...
I do not care how many were in the box.
Run on first down.
Run on second down.
On 3rd and short, that checkdown might just work :)
If on first and second Dallas proves we can't run, then stop. We never even tried to dominate them with the strength of our team.
I WANTED TO HAMMER THEM BETWEEN THE TACKLES.
I am fucking exasperated over the game plan.
We built a smashmouth football team and chose to play patty cake. What the actual fuck?

It seemed that as he was getting set he was like bouncing a bit or something. Not sure if others saw it. I thought they were going to call a false start every time

This. He has done it at every stop, and the Giants adopted it.
and with the trade a lot of cap money coming back to us next year. Obviously not this year. You cannot overlook we were paying OBJ big big money
define quality Edge Rusher? Do we think Vernon will be a quality edge rusher for the next 3-5 years?
Kind of wish we saw more of Barkley running.
FTFY
Consistency was never his strong suit.
The question I have is though it is much harder to find a pass rusher than it is to find an interior lineman. You can get a good guard in the draft way easier than a pass rusher. We’ll see how DG finds Vernon’s replacement. Hopefully X man will help but he’ll need time. Maybe the same for Carter
Neither did Josh Allen

didn't even make the box score yesterday for Cleveland.

Ximines had more production. Nice to see him set the edge.
I hope we can declare victory with the OBJ trade but it's premature at this point.
After missing the first five games with an ankle injury suffered in practice during the preseason, Vernon started each of the final 11 games. He finished with a team-high 7.0 sacks, including 2.5 in the season finale vs. Dallas. It was the second time in his three Giants seasons he led the team in sacks.
Vernon finished the season with 30 tackles (23 solo), 21 quarterback hits (more than double the total of any teammate), five tackles for losses, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one pass defensed.
Zeitler solidifies the line and at least they may have a chance to keep the QB upright and make some holes for Barkley.
FWIW, after reading Sy's game report, it seems that the FO was right on Halapio. Seems he absolutely dominated the LoS. So with Hernandez and Zeitler maybe Eli will have a pocket to step into instead of running from.
100% wrong. Do some research before you post something so clearly wrong. The OV - Zeitler trade was done days before the OBJ trade, but since the paperwork hadn't been submitted yet they decided to write it up as one trade.

It was Vernon and OBJ for Zeitler, Peppers, and the picks. None of those trades happen without the others. I am not sure if that is better or worse but that's how things went down. The specifics were just paperwork. We didn't 'do good on the Zietler trade' and 'get robbed on the OBJ TRADE'. It was a mega-deal and should be viewed in that prism.

While the timing is correct, there were multiple reports that the two trades were tied together. So the post was correct
