Jets vs Bills and looking ahead

justafan : 9/9/2019 2:40 pm
Tired of discussing our week 1 performance ad nauseum I have moved on to our matchup versus the Bills. I watched the super-condensed version of Jets vs Bills.

Buffalo Offense

Josh Allen appeared to have some clean pockets in the highlights. Though pressure got to him early and he fumbled, but it was recovered by one of his linemen. His interception was not on him IMO. It was a not a perfect throw, but his check-down pass went off his receivers body into a defender and he walked it into the endzone. His other interception was tipped at the line.

I don't see much of a threat from the Bills running backs, but Allen is a threat on his feet. I imagine this will give our defense a ton of problems. Especially with guys likely not understanding gap assignments. Allen should convert plenty of 3rd downs using his legs. The Jets did manage a sack on Allen and pressured him throughout. Allen added a botched snap fumble recovered by the Jets.

If we had a competent defense this would be a game we should dominate as Allen is still learning.

Buffalo defense:

Four sacks and plenty of pressure from the highlights. The Bills defense is tough. Our line will have its hands filled.

Misc:

Credit Buffalo with battling back on the road after going down 16-0 in the 3rd quarter.

I fear Josh Allen will have a short career if he continues going headfirst and sacrificing his body like that. I have no desire to see a young guy put in a body bag.

I'm still happy taking Barkley over Darnold, but it will be interesting to see where he is at by the end of the season. Gun to my head I'd prefer Allen over Darnold.

Giants:

You have to hope that some of the communication in the secondary gets cleaned up. Any QB can pick our secondary apart right now because guys are running free. We won't win this game (or any game) if that continues. Will need to worry about gaps here because Allen can move the ball with his legs.

The Buffalo defense allowed a single touchdown and 2 pt conversion. The rest of the scoring was on a pick-six and a safety. This reeks of a game where you feed Barkley the rock and let him make guys miss. Time to test out this offensive line and see if we have some road graders, will Shurmur do it?

at then end of the year, what the hell is the Giants versus the Bills going to have to do with anything?

Answer: Nothing

Here's how it will all end

Super Bowl -
Patriots or Chiefs (probably Patriots) versus up and coming NFC team (not the Giants)....Patriots probably win....

Repeat

Why don’t you go watch golf instead. What a Debbie downer you are.
Devin Singletary, 4 rushes for 70 yards

late in the game. He was a big part of turning that game around. Also caught five balls. Had more yards on 9 touches than Le'veon Bell had on 23.

Third round rookie. One of those 5'7" fireplug pains in the a.

There is good news that the Bills released LeSean McCoy, who still has something left, because they didn't want to pay him, and kept Frank Gore, who looks like the toast version of Jonathan Stewart.

Singletary did look

very good, he could do some damage against our D. We will need to stay in our lanes and try to contain the edge, otherwise Allen will torch us with his legs.
