Without the Sunday Ticket for the first time in 20 years, I was only able to watch what was on, does anyone have any insight on how our former core players did yesterday? I know Odell went 7-71 and had a watch on, but that's about it. I saw Kyler Murray comment about Snacks being tired in the 4th quarter, but what about Vernon, Landon Collins? And no this isn't sour grapes or a way to cope with our putrid play, these were our guys for a few years and I'm always curious how they're doing elsewhere.
looks like flowers was passable, and Pugh did ok.
I didn't expect Kennard to breakout like he has, but this is the one guy who I thought we would re-sign simply because he was a better fit for the 3-4.
You could put together an all-star roster with the guys who were injured and prematurely out of the league, and that's without counting the limited career longevity of Chris Snee.
though he entered in Buffalo as a UDFA (as a TE). Mouse McNally is the one who coaches him up to being a LT - could use some OL "coaching up" here in NY.
Kenny Phillips is another one of the premium picks, whose career ended early due to injury - not even discussing the bad luck with guys like Chad Jones.

But whatever your opinion of Jerry Reese, you have to admit that he had some horrendous luck. He brought in three excellent receivers in Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks, and Victor Cruz, and a valuable #3 in Mario Manningham. Those four each played six or seven injury-marred seasons. Meanwhile, DeSean Jackson is still going strong in his thirteenth season.

Oh, and David Wilson broke his fuckin' neck. There's that.
And to my recollection none of these guys had extensive injury histories when drafted.
While Flowers played better than he probably ever did for the Giants, he still had some wtf moments in the game. Fans at the bar were yelling about him on several occasions.
I commented earlier that it is pretty sad when that's considered pretty good.

game from Bizarro Land, because it seemed like Flowers was doing a decent job and Collins looked good. Turns out the Eagles just didn't show up for the first half.

That is the best I’ve ever seen him play. Maybe REfskims will regab him into a decent Guard. Time will tell
I didn't see it, though.
Thomas was the only guy on the list with serious college injury.
I didn't see it, though.
It was 3rd and 28 and they weren't even at the 50. If he got out of bounds maybe they could've tried a hail mary but it's not like they were in FG range.

Didnt the Giants also draft a CB in the second round who quit the first week of camp?
Quote:
the 3rd round pick who shattered his leg in a car accident before ever playing a down. Kenny Phillips degenerative knee. On and on and on.

Are you thinking of Rod Babers? He was a 4th rounder.
Thomas Davis had 2 ACL reconstructions and played well over a decade. Terrell Thomas played four seasons.
Car accident broke his leg
Car accident broke his leg
Did way more than break it!
Had 4.0 " 2017 " 15 "
Had 7.0 " 2018 " 15 "
So with 3 sacks already he looks headed
for double digit sacks.
Romeo Okwara looks like he got shutout after
like 10-11 sacks last season Looks like we could
have used both these guys and just let them go .
Not sure where Kerry Wynn ended up
Quote:
David Wilson could have done. Great talent short lived
Too bad he was awful before he got hurt
Exactly idk why people act like he was the second coming. He was a good returner, but his value as a runner was limited
There must be something about him that resonates with his teammates.
So if the Redskins waived him during the season, would the Giants pick him up to use the same way? Of course not.
I understand through the grapevine my exes all performed spectacularly yesterday night for their new boyfriends.
The new emphasis on holding is BS. Even the Cowboys had 3 holding penalties, including Zach Martin.

gets a holding penalty and gives up a few pressures per game (at least pre-season and game 1 this year), and he's been touted as part of Gettleman's great drafting. I think he'll be a good player, but he's got a lot to clean up.

Yeah that Zach Martin one was soft, told my Cowboys buddy watching the game with yesterday its a point of emphasis now.
This keeps getting brought up, but it was 3rd down and they were way outta field goal range at that point. He was trying to make a big play. This wasn't some massive screw up. If anything it looked like he was his old explosive self.
