NFT: Yankees News: Mike Tauchman out 6-8 weeks

Mike in Long Beach : 9/9/2019 5:10 pm
I know, next man up... but you gotta feel for Mike. Gets his first real crack at the bigs in his late 20's, kills it, only to get hurt at the finish line and might not get to play in the postseason now.

Mike Tauchman has a Grade 2 calf strain. He will miss six to eight weeks.

Already the most injured team in MLB history (literally)

and the hits still keep on coming.

I mean, what do you even say at this point? Is Stanton still on planet Earth? Hicks? Incredible.
might not?

Seems like his chances of playing in the postseason are close to nil. 6-8 weeks means they probably need to make the WS and even then it's hard to see them activating him after a 6+ week layoff and no rehab games. Granted, the way things have gone this season they'll probably have 3 other OFs injured by then...

Lol, see Dave's post. We're bound to lose about 8 more players between now and then :)
wow, very tough break for him.

As said above - here's his chance, he earned it, and now this.

Looks like Stanton is a "need" and not just a "want." Also helps Clint's chances of sticking around.
Running out of OFers

Wonder how Ellsbury's rehab is doing? :)

and I'm assuming no Hicks, although I hope I'm wrong about that.

Ha ha - didn't even think of that!
Thank God

This resting players and keeping them fresh is paying such huge dividends.

Last week’s report had a setback with Hicks, sounding like he might not make it back.

So, we’re down to Judge, Gardy, Frazier healthy, plus Stanton and Maybin possibly back in time.

Unbelievable injury luck this season.
Sad thing is it had been
section125 : 9/9/2019 5:42 pm : link
bothering him for a few days...geez.

Hello Cam Maybin. We may have Tyler Wade the the OF!
Didn't Maybin...
Jim in Tampa : 9/9/2019 5:44 pm : link
Play yesterday? Didn't see the game but thought I remembered seeing him in LF on the highlights.

He came in when Tauchman pulled up with the lame calf.
It looks like Frazier
RasputinPrime : 9/9/2019 5:58 pm : link
may just get some meaningful playing time down the stretch. If Maybin's wrist is good to go he will start until/if Stanton comes back.

Walking wounded indeed.
we're well beyond ridiculous at this point

.
Tauchman is a pretty bad loss

--Elite defensive LF who can play CF well
--Solid lefty bat that can hit good pitching (hit a HR off Greinke the day Greinke was traded to Houston)

The Yanks really need Hicks back and it doesn't look like he'll be able to return this season either. That means Gardner plays CF every day and Maybin is in left. Not sure how well Stanton can play LF even if he returns

Yes I questioned Staton's ability to play the field, but apparently he was sliding the other day. If they are letting him slide, then that knee must be doing well.
