Monday 9/10 - Fantasy Football Thread - Week 1 in the books

Who are your waiver targets?

My team needs RB work.

Somehow even with Chubb and Kerryon my team squeaked out a w, but I would like some RB depth.

Obviously without knowing who is available in anyone's leagues just wondering who people are targeting.

AP is a FA in one of my leagues. With Guice reportedly out multiple weeks, he seems like a decent pick up.

Anyone else surprise?
other RB's available who I thought
pjcas18 : 9/10/2019 9:00 am : link
showed FF promise:

Carlos Hyde
Malcom Brown (everyone was all over Darrel Henderson and he might be the eventual backup, but based on Sunday he's not yet)
I have the #4 claim
beatrixkiddo : 9/10/2019 9:02 am : link
In a 14 team PPR.

My team laid an egg week one. Hoping JuJu and Mike Williams aren’t badly hurt going forward. I need desperate help at RB too and am considering nabbing Peterson or Bernard.

Not many options but my RBs:
Jones, Penny, Hill, Richard (who I thought would get some use but didn’t even see the field yesterday). Ugh. Not sure if I want to burn a high priority yet or wait a week and see if anything else shakes loose.
I'd go Chris Thompson
LawrenceTaylor56 : 9/10/2019 9:02 am : link
instead of AP if he is available. Especially in a PPR league.

Seems like Thompson's role is pretty set, he's usually the 3rd down back right? Or do you think they make him the lead back?

Hyde is available too in my league not sure how I’d rank: Hyde, Peterson, Bernard (Depends on the injuries of Mixon and Guice I guess)
is Josh Allen a must start against
ron mexico : 9/10/2019 9:07 am : link
the Giants?

You could probably play Allen, Keenum and Winston the next three weeks as they are probably all available

So I as down 30 going into Denver vs Oak
superspynyg : 9/10/2019 9:08 am : link
I had Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Sanders in non ppr. I won 116-112.
Jacobs had 22 and Sanders had 16.

I woke up happy.

My other league I got blown out.
I think he has more of a promising
LawrenceTaylor56 : 9/10/2019 9:11 am : link
role moving forward depending on Guice. If Guice is ruled out, go Thompson.

Also, New England at Miami. I'd snatch up Rex Burkhead this week.

I hate relying on a Patriots RB.

White, Michel, Burkhead, you know they'll get the rookie involved soon too - and a lot of mouths to feed at receiver - Edelman, Gordon, AB, Dorsett, and Demaryius Thomas if he even plays.

I'm avoiding Pats RB's.
Went 3-0 week one.
Eli Wilson : 9/10/2019 9:17 am : link
Some dude in one league dropped Antonio Brown. I have no chance to get him, but I put in a waiver claim anyways. Hoping everyone is asleep at the wheel week one for waivers.

Too soon to cut bait
pjcas18 : 9/10/2019 10:02 am : link
on Kalen Ballage?

I read bad things about him all pre-season, yet still drafted him (though it was late when I did).

Sounds like all Miami players should be pretty much avoided for now. I read multiple players called their agents after the Ravens debacle and asked their agents to request a trade.

My only real drop candidates are Ballage and Chris Herndon.

I have Engram and Hockenson at TE.
had a decent week but went up against
UConn4523 : 9/10/2019 10:08 am : link
Watkins and lost. I had down weeks from Chubb and Julio Jones which will hopefully turnaround. Liked what I saw in Josh Jacobs - if he stays healthy he's going to be awesome.

What's everyone's thoughts on Hockenson? He was 2nd on the team with targets (9) to Amendola (13). Would be great if he ends up being the #2 option in that offense. I've got him and Hunter Henry who had just an OK game.
Malcom Brown for the Rams.
bradshaw44 : 9/10/2019 10:12 am : link
He is going to snake a lot of the load from Gurley. And most of the goal line plays. I've got a claim in for him too.
I'm going right to Ronald Jones,
barens : 9/10/2019 11:14 am : link

Kicking myself for taking Ballage over Ekeler. Miami players all look pretty useless at this point, although it can't always be as bad as it was this past week right?

Real Question is too early to cut bait on Kenyon Drake? Miami is a super mess and I’m not sure any Miami play is worth a roster spot. He is now my 5th be behind McCoy.

He is not a FA for me, but I like him too.
rank the FA WRs
pjcas18 : 9/10/2019 11:29 am : link
I don't know I have the need for any of them, but still some interesting options:

John Ross (CIN)
Terry McLaurin (WAS)
AJ Brown (TEN)
Danny Amendola (DET)
DJ Chark (JAX)
Phillip Dorsett (NE)

I like Ross and McLaurin - I dropped McLaurin Sunday at 12:55 and picked up Hollywood Brown. I don't regret it, but i wish I dropped Ballage or Herndon instead (in hind sight).

I agree with Ross and McLaurin (Ross until AJ is back). I like Brown after that who seems to already be better than Corey Davis. No interest in Dorsett whatsoever. He won't have much value unless AB isn't long for NE. He'll have a big game here or there but won't be someone you can start unless you're really desperate and it's a dart throw.
I'm trying to pick up Mecole Hardman if available

me 2. Was just rumor, but he was deemed as 'like a 2nd Tyreek' so without the 1st one...worth a flier
Also worth mentioning J Crowder
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 4:03 pm : link
Quietly had 15-16 tgts w/ 14 rec. Only 99 yds and no TD, but you figure if he's a constant dump off target (likely), he'll also have a RZ role. I guess you could say Amendola to a lesser extent. Not huge breakout likelihood, but possible top usage in PPR, also both probably have better catch% than most
I think Ross is going to be an abberation, he didn't play well even
Zeke's Alibi : 9/10/2019 4:11 pm : link
though he put up massive stats.

Darwin Thompson is clearly a drop so my firs target is Hockenson, even though I already have Engram as I think he is going to have flex value. So pissed I didn't have one more bench spot because he would have been it.

After that I like Mclaurin and Hardman, but I'm not sure who I like more. Thoughts? I think I like Hardman's short term ability better and I'm waiting for AJ Green to come back healthy so he should be a pretty clear starter when I get him back.
I hope David Montgomery learns the playbook sooner rather than later
Zeke's Alibi : 9/10/2019 4:17 pm : link
He is clearly their best running back, but Nagy said the playbook is complicated and he needs to feel more comfortable with it before he gets more time.

I'd probably go: McLaurin, Brown, Ross, Chark, Amendola, Dorsett

Some thoughts on those: Ross is fine til AJ comes back (Boyd looks good too). Brown might be THE guy as CDavis sucks, but the O also sucks. McLaurin & Chark are in sketchy Os - and have several other targets (WAS Richardson, Reed, Thompson) or a new QB in Jax. Might flip Chark & Ross depending on how things shake out. Dorsett has the upside game-to-game on DA, but DA might be consistent esp PPR

Hollywood I like but as sick as that was, Jackson was 17-20, 5TDs. Rarely over 20A game to game and never over 2TDs til yesterday. I like the possible connection between an improvising QB & WR, but pass vol scares me as does it being MIA's D, so IMO you're looking at some big yrd games but fewer scores than yesterday would imply. Upside through the roof no doubt. I wouldn't swap him this week either given the options
My issue is just which waiver is first:
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 4:38 pm : link
1. Thompson for CDavis
2. Hardman for JSamuels

I'm not huge on dropping JS, but of course is more a injury stash even w/ some standalone value

I'm a) erring towards RB so prioritizing CT, then b) swapping for better potential atm, tho it's WR for RB

I think both are on people's radar, but I'm guessing Hardman is a little more likely available 2nd time down the WW (a little)
Calling it now, Hardman is going to have breakout week next week.
Zeke's Alibi : 9/10/2019 4:40 pm : link
Broncos WRs were terrible yesterday, really let Flacco down, not that he really looked all that great. There Oline was really bad. This seemed like a Raiders team that was galvanaize at home due to the Antonio Brown situation. They are still a 6 win football team.
What are peoples thoughts on Jameis? The Bucs had the flu and
Zeke's Alibi : 9/10/2019 4:47 pm : link
you could tell Mike Evans was really struggling. Jameis looked bad, but he did have a couple TDs called back. I'm still rolling with him for one more week I think. The hardest part about week 1 is not overreacting to what happens week 1.

Is Dalton worth a pick up? It says they completely scrapped the run game after Mixon got hurt (killed my fantasy team) but he is out one game max. The Bengals Oline still sucks as far as I know, but they do have a ton of weapons and that coach impressed in his debut.
So if it were you, you'd swap waivers? I'm at the end of the line
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 4:47 pm : link
I was just worried about his 1 target, but yeah as I said earlier, ST they were talking like he's another TH so

But to be fair, Thompson has had that kind of affect, 2 yrs ago no doubt...iirc he was huge getting that yr's FF team into the playoffs (if not winning). Not sure he has that level in him, but seems a good vol PPR choice w/ upside

But yeah, hence the back & forth!
Demaryious Thomas to the Jets...
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 4:50 pm : link
does this move the needle?

I'd take a shot but Hardman first (plus DT might be available after waivers). I also have DK Metcalf, so I wouldn't likely do it, but thoughts on FF value, yay or nay?
If I end up with Hardman and not Hockenson I still feel
Zeke's Alibi : 9/10/2019 6:01 pm : link
comfortable starting him in my flex over Dede Westbrook honestly. Yeah he only had 1 target last week, but he played 80 percent of snaps in a high octane offense. That is more an aberration than anything, and it would be hard to believe that Watkins will catch the Raiders sleeping on him this week.
It really depends if you need a RB or WR more, but I really like
Zeke's Alibi : 9/10/2019 6:07 pm : link
the upside of Hardman as the second WR in that offense. He is an excellent route runner, tremendous speed, doesn't drop the ball. He was a second round pick so it isn't like its some sixth round pick just stepping up due to injury. They just bludgeoned that Jags defense on that road. Jags had no answeres, but Andy Reid with a whole year to gameplan is dangerous so it could be that. I was laughing at the guy in my league that took Mahomes 17 overall, but now I think he may have the last laugh.
The more I think about Hardman the more I like it. When has Sammy
Zeke's Alibi : 9/10/2019 6:16 pm : link
Watkins not been hurt? I think people are still going to sleep on him because of the one target last week.
Yeah you had to think regression on Mahomes
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 6:25 pm : link
even if not in 'actual performance.' 50 TDs? When no one else broke 35 last yr? But a week in maybe not

Makes sense. I figure Thompson is less likely to break out, also iirc it's a lesser injury ahead of him & still mostly PPR. But expect big games w/ that volume if it continues. Still I can risk higher upside being 3 deep at both RB / WR if TK is out long. Also makes sense to drop WR for WR, but keep Samuels if I don't get Thompson
According to roto - y! Mixon has a sprained ankle...so Gio took #1
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 6:54 pm : link
Missed that yesterday. CIN is tough to gauge game to game, but if Mixon is out GB might be another RB option short term anyway. It was still only 7a & 3tgts in the end, but still. Vs SF next week
