This team is 42-100 on the season. Yikes.
no problem - Ryan Dull

is up in the bullpen.
WTF is that
section125 : 9/10/2019 8:56 pm : link
with Loaisiga......

Boone not even giving a shit about winning, which is fine with the Astros losing.
Umm did the high leverage guys not make the bust trip?

He is just giving them all a night off. They got in at 3am. Even the starting lineup is lacking a lot of big names...

Might just go watch the USMNT play Uruguay.

NYY: 11 hits thus far

6 of them yaks.
How big was the EE trade?

Have a feeling he’s going to be money in the playoffs. Reminds me of Cecil Fielder in 96

Jeez what a sloppy game.
Eman11 : 9/10/2019 9:36 pm : link
They are really playing down to their competition tonight. One of the few times I think I've seen it all year.
This is an epic clusterfuck

Or Raul Ibanez in 2012.
Hate to say that an ump
section125 : 9/10/2019 9:40 pm : link
has a different strike zone, but he has called several pitches just off the inside and just off the outside tonight. Those two to Cabrera he called balls, he called strikes on Gary tonight which is why Gary was jawing a bit.

He calls it on Frazier...wtf?
Britton brings sanity back
section125 : 9/10/2019 9:55 pm : link
and goes 1-2-3.

Now Gardy goes yardy for the 3rd time.
As leading
section125 : 9/10/2019 9:59 pm : link
Astros 17-2...

Again a weird outside strike given to a Tiger pitcher..
Oh, Gary..
section125 : 9/10/2019 10:03 pm : link
swings at a pitch shoulder high and well inside then at a pitch low and away..almost a typical Gary AB.

A's now up 19-2 in the 5th.
Chance Adams

looks to be coming in...agh.

are we throwing in the towel?
He just called a ball
section125 : 9/10/2019 10:10 pm : link
on a clear, very clear strike. He is fucking with the Yanks on the Gardy incident.
we all knew this was the outcome when Adams was put in.

Yep... I know he wanted to give the big boys a night off, but ...you should win if you score 11 runs.

Does he ever have a clean inning? If so I don't remember it.

I get Boone going the route he did tonight and I put this more on the guys on the field than him choosing to play it this way tonight.

When you score as much as the Yanks did tonight there's no excuse for losing. Errors both physical and mental combined with poor pitching will get you beat, even by a shitty team.
Our AAA pitchers couldn't get AAA hitters out.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 9/10/2019 10:47 pm : link
The defensive mental mistakes were certainly also a major issue. The error, a pair of missed cut-off men, and the passed ball cost them 5-8 runs.

Otto is good, but he can't be 4 pitch walking anyone in the Detroit lineup. He walks too many freakin' batters.
With all that
GruningsOnTheHill : 9/10/2019 11:25 pm : link
they gave the ball to Ottavino late with the lead, but he couldn’t hold it.

There will be a few nut-punch losses like this over a 162-game season.

Fortunately the Astros are getting buried, though the Rays are now tied in extras.
Does
nygnyy274 : 9/11/2019 8:56 am : link
This Rays team fucking lose!!
yeah, that was the most irritating part
Greg from LI : 9/11/2019 9:10 am : link
They took the lead back, put in Ottavino, and even he gives up hits to scrubby pieces of shit
.
arcarsenal : 9/11/2019 9:17 am : link
We don't need to worry about the Rays. They're not going to make up 8 games with only 15-16 left to play.

Last night was annoying. I don't mind putting Cortes out there and trying to get through a game @ Comerica that Edwin Jackson and his 9+ ERA was starting by using our back end relievers. We just made too many stupid mistakes. A ball that should have been an inning-ending DP wound up an error on Torres and I believe was followed up by a 3 run HR in the very next AB.

The Yanks did a lot of stupid things last night... Loaisiga not even covering home (didn't cost him on that particular play, but...) it was just one of those things.

Sterling said they got in pretty late from Boston. We've seen this before with them... and you'll see it with every team. Sometimes they're just not sharp coming off a long series and travel day.

I don't think they even took BP on the field last night.

It was the same thing when we got home from the WC trip and laid an egg against Texas. (Lost 7-0)

The boys will look more like themselves tonight and we'll get back on track. It's just one of those games. Doesn't even really need to be discussed much.
Chance Adams needs to be dealt for a DSL lottery ticket this summer
Jim in Hoboken : 9/11/2019 9:27 am : link
pronto.

By our usual trajectory with young pitchers, Lasagna should break out next year. His stuff is better than German’s but I don’t know if he will make that leap. May not be given the chance either, and needs to stay healthy first.
Ugly game
Carson53 : 9/11/2019 9:55 am : link
with the dreds pitching, looked like a ST game.
Move on to the next one, in the grand scheme of things,
doesn't mean much. If you are worried about homefield,
Houston got smoked last night.
I don't think
Carson53 : 9/11/2019 9:59 am : link
Lasagna has better stuff than German. He has higher velocity on his fastball, that's about it.
German has better breaking stuff, as well as a change.
Lasagna has an inconsistent slider, and no change that
I have seen. He is what you call more style than substance.

They are winning again. Lead is about to be 7.5 if somehow it’s 4.5 Monday with two weeks to play and two games against them yes I’m gonna start to worry nothing is over yet
