The 'pitching splits w/ Ramos catching' convo came back up
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 7:26 pm : link
can't be sure of the right answer, but I understand if Thor is frustrated. Tbf he's not shitting on Ramos, just talking results and today admitted he has to get better. And esp 2nd half Ramos' bat could not be ignored. IMO I would have leaned toward the pitching esp w/ their 1st half struggles vs Ramos' bat a fair amount more, particularly early season

But the splits are hugely different, and w/ framing & pitch calls it's legit a thing. Also JDG was given Nido for most of the tail of his CY Young run (ironically BVW advised JDG to insist as much lol). No doubt pros gotta man up, but that double std negatively effecting his results plus trade rumors every year...

Thor & Ramos - ( New Window )
Gallen looks like

I know I’m probably crazy but whatever.

Got him
ChaChing : 9/10/2019 7:53 pm : link
great relay & tag. Yeah I always wonder how often guys' foot goes over the plate almost as if they aren't trying to use that, but are going for the hand touch

Still was a good effort just didn't work out...or so I think anyway

won their playoff series, NY-Penn league champs.

Matthew Allan threw 3 scoreless innings with 0 hits, 0 BB's and 2K's following Nathan Jones who pitched ok too (3 IP, 1ER, 3BB, 1K).

Jake Mangum 2 for 3.

Mets minors summer season is officially wrapped.
Fatty's been warming up, but Dodgers clinch...
ChaChing : 9/11/2019 1:07 am : link
a little extra hope in that series esp w/ JDG & Thor being on tap iirc in case they sit some guys. Still a great team, but there's a shot, as w/ Atl last 3

I'm not holding my breath, nor think it's pretty if they do sneak in but...

LOL and the Cubbies hand the game away in 10th

Initial returns on Allan look like we were smart to tank Rounds 4-10 to fit him under budget. Now watch us trade him for some has been.

Yep, so far, hopefully he stays healthy next year and plays full-season.

It pisses me off to look at the minors in general and see how strong the system could have been if BVW wasn't clueless.

People sometimes call it prospect hugging, but the players you get from the farm system to contribute have a ripple effect on your whole roster, and the better those players pan out, the bigger the ripple.

at least if you trade them to improve the major league team, which I support, you better actually improve the major league team or you are doing more damage than good - like is the case here.
Feels like the Mets have an opportunity again...

3 out of a spot.

Baez out for Cubs.

Yelich now out for Brewers.

Within a game of Philly and DBacks.

Again, no expectations but fun to still be hanging around this thing.

Also, I think we can start to keep an eye on the Nats. Not playing great, brutal schedule and known to be choke artists. They have 2 more with Minnesota, then the Braves, then the Cardinals.
I hate the fact they dragged me back in
bhill410 : 9/11/2019 9:14 am : link
but if they can get through next 5 while staying 2/3 back the schedule really eases up and they could make a charge. Curious to see how much, if any, the dodgers lay off the gas.
Still have a pulse here...
Metnut : 9/11/2019 9:18 am : link
bottom of the rotation vs the DBacks and then juggernaut Dodgers coming into town this weekend. Mets 3 back if Cubs and still 3 other teams to leapfrog in between.

Keep winning games and survive these 5 days and they'll have a punchers shot at this.

The two worst pitchers in MLB this season by Win Probability Added? Jeurys Familia (-2.30) and Edwin Diaz (-2.16). Nobody else is below -2. It is as bad as it feels.

We all know Mets have thrown away a ton of games because of poor bullpen usage and other issues that should not happen.

But at this point, you have to let that go and just enjoy that they are in it.

Also, other than Wheelz all the key players are back next year. So this team is at the beginning of what should be a good tun

Well Mets are only 3 back

Exactly. It’s astonishing to me how people can’t identify how young and talented this roster is. And it’s not just the rotation anymore. We have a huge nucleus of position players to grow off of. Having major league ready prospects “close” would be nice but it’s not crucial at the moment. And even Diaz in the pen is still extremely young and talented and could bounce back next year and grow with these guys. Hoping we bring back Wheeler too. I think we lucked out with the juiced balls this year and might be able to get him on a friendly 4 year deal.
If lowrie wasn’t used last night as pinch
