Tommy Beer @TommyBeer · 1m The hope was that Frank Ntilikina would walk away from this tournament with a boost of confidence... hard to imagine a scenario that would give him more confidence than making arguably the two biggest jumpers in French basketball history to beat Team USA |

Knicks guard Frank Ntilikina hit two big fourth-quarter shots and defended well late in France’s win over Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. The 21-year-old made a game-tying 3-pointer with 4:30 to play and knocked down a jump shot to put France up 6 with two minutes left. |

Alan Hahn @alanhahn In the France upset over US, Frank Ntilikina had 11 points, 3 assists and a steal with +22 in 25:13 of #FIBAWorldCup2019 Quarterfinal. He had 5 points in an 11-0 run that turned the game in the 4Q. Played an excellent role down the stretch for France. #Knicks |
I would love to see him put it all together and be that 3d guy off the bench we need

You definitely saw that 3 and D potential today. Needs to carry it over to the NBA, of course. Had some nice drives to the rim too.
If Frank can hit jumpers, he can be a NBA role-player. The shot over Kemba was humongous.
Unrelated, but Emoni Bates is good. The next three classes are fodders until he gets to college.
@TommyBeer
France trailed Team USA by seven points when Ntilikina checked back in the game with 8:11 left in the fourth quarter.
France outscored USA by 17 points over the final 8 mins.
Ntilikina (7 pts) outscored Kemba and Donvovan Mitchell combined in 4th quarter

No denying how bad he’s been on offense. But what he does bring- high overall IQ and defensive IQ, passing and skilled defense will be needed on this team. They really don’t have another good defender besides Mitch who still has room to grow there.
Frank is at least a plus defender right now. Just be patient. Team is not currently in or anywhere near a title window.

He was drafted as a teenager. He was literally still growing, which affects coordination. I think we need to see what he turns into, knowing that he could turn into nothing much. But it would be nice to get some return on the investment of a #8 overall pick and two years of development time.
He can be a ball mover and open shooter..He should pattern his game after iguodola..
As far as his offense is concerned, he was clearly under-confident. He had dazzling 3-point shooting numbers in the under-18 league tournament. He shot 58.6% from 3-point range. Did that talent disappear, or was he just overwhelmed by the NBA? And, of course, he was hurt a lot, and still growing. Can he play the point? Probably not. Is he the #2 shooting guard behind Barrett? Quite possibly.
The Knicks are going to have a numbers problem at several slots.
It's hard to make the case that Trier and Dotson shouldn't get time, so who sits if Frank is playing the best D on the team and scoring pretty well? People forget that Dotson played from November to the end of the season as a shooting guard with a damaged shoulder. Given that, he could be a really attractive 3 and D this year. And Trier can flat-out score, and is athletic enough to improve as a 2 on D.
There is lots of depth at the 3 as well. Who sits? Who knows?
Going to be interesting.
