LB Kareem Martin (knee) is headed to injured reserve, per source. Coach Pat Shurmur indicated Wednesday that Martin would be out weeks not days. His season may not be over though. Rookie Oshane Ximines and newly signed Tuzar Skipper will take Martin’s snaps in the meantime.
Yeah Kareem Martin wasnt expected to do a whole lot. We didn't give him a boat load of money. And he wasnt J.T. Thomas bad.
Sweet.
Agree. And of the Arizona guys Bettcher brought in last year, we hung onto him but we let Mauro walk...meanwhile Mauro was hell on wheels against Denver on MNF.
FIFY. Believe it or not, 2018 was Martin's best season by far.
Sweet.
I see three year 15 mil.
But still 10 mil for 1.5 sacks is no bueno

$7.5M in guarantees, and the Giants got 1.5 sacks out of him through the first two years?

I just googled it so I trust your numbers over what Wikipedia told me.
This sounds like ABC's thursday night prime time line up fron the 70s

Sure didn't see anything promising out of Bethea in the secondary against Dallas. Thought he was here for 'leadership on the back end' and 'to help guys get lined up.'
No.
Bettcher has pretty much lost me. If he turns it around I will change my mind, but I haven't liked what I've seen so far. He had the NFC Pro Bowl team with the Cards and he's looking like Barry Switzer so far.
He may be a great guy but he is horrible
DG not a good early record on free agents
Draft different story
Money obviously an issue on FA

Jury still out on draft, SB great, Hernandez good to very good, still waiting on the rest.
As for Martin, he was a JAG. I think a lot of the Arizona guys performed better in AZ because they had some studs and they were able to have success because of it. We have no studs yet, some of the young guys may turn out to be but no one on our D scares you. Until someone steps up teams can attack us any way they want. We will probably be able to stop the run though, its a good thing its a running league...lol.
Martin
Pierre
Golden?
Bethea
Anyone else?
And because we picked up,these bums we have gotten rid of some pretty good players who are thriving elsewhere....Mauro and Kennard come to mind.

Agreed, DG has been doing well in the draft but his FA acquisitions are lacking (Bethea, Martin, Omameh, Stewart). Solder you could say was an overpay

Mauro has 3 career sacks. he played well on Monday but he really hasn't done anything in the NFL. He is a marginal starter at best. Plus he was suspended last year for 4 games for PEDs. He wasnt going to improve the pass rush.

Mauro WAS a Bettcher/Cards guy when we signed him
His butt has to on the line this season
Personally I hate the 3/4
But I’m
Watching so far I still
Hate it - even more

Not like Giants had a rush with JPP and Vernon in 2017. And they were paid like QB's.

Getting rid of them was fine. It's how they replaced them that's incredibly mediocre.
Here's hoping he can be coached up and become an asset for the Giants.

I think one thing I’d say about FA, Solder is the only one I can think of that was a “go out and get him” kind of guy. One where we might have competed with other teams to sign. And even he was our backup plan to Norwood iirc. All the rest of the FA’s were guys we signed who weren’t wanted or who weren’t good enough for the previous teams to want to retain.
IOW, nobody was Bryce Harper type of FA, which is what I think most of us think about when we think FA. What we did was sign flotsam who were...well, free.
I don't think there has been a single one that we can say was a great or even good addition relative to cost. No pleasant surprises, no diamonds in the rough.
Also UDFA's havent come in to play. Reese had his Cruz, Hynoski, Herz and a few others during his time.
Free up more money
Who is our pro player personnel guy - failing class right now
Hopefully as other posters have said this will result into a more effective pass rush and not a bunch of inexperienced players running around not knowing what to do
him is a fail . Teams are still making moves I see no
reason to keep trotting him out there . I have no idea
his cap and contract situation . Peppers is not even
close to Collins I mean hope for some improvement but
damn we lack playmakers across the defense .

Cody Latimer was a decent bargain bin signing in 2018 but thats about it. Jury is still out on his 2019 signings (Golden Tate, Marcus Golden, Bethea). One move I really love is the Zeitler move. He is a moose
