and focused on Flowers out of curiosity. I thought he play really well until he didn't. He had two plays were he completely whiffed and almost got his QB killed. I think this might be the type of player he is. 90% really good, 10% really bad.
It would be like a RB that averages 10 yards/carry but fumbles at least once a game.
After Keemun converted a 4th and 8 at midfield. Next play holding flowers ruined the drive. Love the hype after week 1. By week 4 his ass will be on the bench
Like bad plays get him down and he starts to break down. Its hard to explain those plays where he just lapses, like he forgot the play or was almost thinking about something else.
watched the first half or so of that game, when he was very good. He apparently got worse and reverted to form in the second half with three pressures and two penalties.
he had a couple of pressures and a hit (maybe two), no highlight whiffs. There was a holding call on him that was bogus - was actually the LT. There wasn't a lot of run blocking - the announcers said at the end that WASH had no running first downs in the entire game, which seemed unbelievable but I guess it was true.
He looked better than out on the edge, he's definitely going to be a better guard than he was a OT. Biggest problem for WASH was the right side of the OL, although my eyes were keyed on Flowers I could see pressure coming from the right side of the line several times.
too. I’m not sure why the Giants didn’t try him there?
As I recall the Giants floated the idea of moving him to guard and he told them no, he was a tackle. Then an injury happened and it made the point moot.
change of scenery and position can do a person good... Â
He said Flowers was solid in the first half. He said it was the opposite in the second half. I am sure many will just assume he had a great game and bash Gettleman for not "trying him at guard."
I think Bill Callahan has a lot to do with getting him Â
Most of the Redskins had a pretty good first half. The 1 PM games thread here was actually a little concerned that maybe the Redskins will be better than expected this year.
I chalked it up to the Eagles sleepwalking, and the second half proved me right.
I was genuinely surprised at his first half play Â
and even commented on it on the 1PM game thread. But he got lazy or maybe tired in the second half. Very much the Flowers we know, complete with 2 penalties. But that first half, yeah, I was bummed lol. He looked pretty good and not against scrubs either. Held his own against Fletcher Cox on a few occasions.
Seems like classic symptoms of not being well-conditioned Â

I agree I watched that whole game. Sure I was at a bar but I wanted to see how he would do at guard, and honestly from that perspective he was not horrible by any means... lol.
and from various reports, it sounds like he was mediocre at best, granted that's a massive improvement from his overall play here. But even in his time here, he had stretches where he looked competent and I'm sure you can scour the archives and even find some game reviews where he was "good".
For what it's worth... we're talking about one half of serviceable play and our own OL doesn't look like it's anywhere near the massive problem it has been in the past.
Odds are, Flowers will turn back into a pumpkin. It sounds like he kind of did in the same game anyway.
Our glaring issue has shifted from the offensive line to the back 7/8 of the defense.
first and second half. The Redskins, their O-line and Flowers all look pretty good in the first half, mostly pass blocking.
Not worth debating this but I think Philly defense looked like they were "dogging it" in first half
Second half was a completely different story and Flowers and the rest of that line were committing penalties and run blocking was abysmal, creating bad down/distances.
My overall opinion - we should be happy he plays for the Redskins...

Interesting perception - it really was a tale of two halves -- because Chase Keenum was on fire in the first half - he looked like Dak Prescott did playing the Giants - then he couldn't make a play for love nor money in the second half - I mean the Skins were outright stifled - so there might be some truth to this
Do you really want Flowers on this roster?? You can probably find better places to work in that jab
Hell, the Redskins won't want him by mid year.
Here's how bad Flowers is - having a decent first half is reason for some people to question why we didn't use him at Guard, yet he had a pretty piss poor 2nd half reminiscent of his performances here.
RE: RE: The Philly Redskin game was a night & day between Â

My neighbor is Eagle fan and he indicated this Eagle team a year ago also had a lot of slow starts to games in first half. They did against us as well in at least one of the games.
There was a gif on Twitter two or three weeks ago... Â

I agree, the Philly D looked rusty in the first half.
I’ll say this though - McLaurin looked good at WR. Just imagine if Jones has had WRs like that at Duke.

He looked much better in the first half though -- I guess he must have gotten tired

That gif above of him missing a block - and then chipping off his own man - is classic!!!!!

You can be pretty safe claiming this is not a foundation player.
I'd be concerned if the Giants took position advice from BBI. ;)
The Giants are a bad team.

Both of our current guards are better...
So why would we want him?

Maybe he's finally realized this is his last chance.

Matter of time. Flowers is, was, and will always be a bum.
