After practice on Thursday afternoon, Beckham was asked about Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, and naturally, he did not hold back any feelings towards the coach. "Nobody in the NFL is really out to do stuff like that, I had players on this team telling me that's what he was telling them to do," Beckham told reporters, according to Cleveland.com. "Take me out of the game, and it's preseason. So you just know who he is... that's the man calling the plays." |
"That's exactly it," Beckham said. "It's something that I'll never forget. It changed my life forever."
The wide receiver seems convinced that his injury was caused by Williams' coaching strategy.
Manning was in cahoots with Williams. He threw it high so the DB could submarine OBJ....

I thought that was Manning's fault.

If only they had one with three buttons.
It should have been done a long time ago.
Now dat right there am funny!
100%. I remember the saftey lowering his head like a missile, missing Beckham, hitting his own player, and knocking his own teeth out. In fact, Demontre Moore was the only teammate that stuck up for Beckham albiet drawing a 15 yard penalty in the process but at that point something had to be done. It was so blatant. Normally I would say getting a personal foul penalty is not the right way to handle that situation but that was a rare case where I didn't give a fuck.

I still remember to this day how blatant the Gregg Williams led Rams defense in 20114 was trying to take him out of that game.

there should have been a flag on that play for launching
Didn't matter though, this was the very next play
Nice one.
OBJ injury - ( New Window )
legal doesn't mean its not dirty
There are plenty of players able to reach that conclusion on their own based on his personality & the attention he gets.
Love this!
Absolutely. He's a total skeeve. Just pond scum. What a "perfect" match he and the other scum, Sean Payton, were in New Orleans...
We have seen anything like that sense.
We have seen anything like that sense.
Is that jackrabbit that he burned?
We haven't seen anything like that since...RE: OBJ.
Damn Ipad.
Worked like a charm.
Williams should have been banned from the NFL for lifetime after doing what he did.
If that was a head shot then I would think Beckham has a case. But, taking his legs out? That's how 98% of the DBs in the league tackle!

Same guy right in the middle of the bounty issue in New Orleans. Can't teach an old guy new tricks. NFL so worried about player's safety yet they let guys like this stick around.

And Williams learned from another scumbag, Jeff Fisher. And Jeff Fisher learned from the biggest scumbag of them all, Buddy Ryan.

against the Rams was OBJ as his absolute best. That speed in and out of his cut are just super-human.

Mark Barron

I don't know - he had some pretty incredible explosion in 2016. He basically won this team games with his speed.
That was the last year I saw that burst from him. He wasn't right early 2017 before he got hurt, and last year I didn't see that gear at all.
Way to think it through.
Way to think it through.
Or more likely setting the focus of the refs on it.

put a giant target on his back, and rile up the dudes that are going to be tackling him.

It’s probably a combination of this and how he truly feels about Williams.
Gregg Williams really shouldn't have been allowed to coach again. As others have said, he's truly a scumbag.
