What’s the fallout in the event of a blow out Sunday ?

Ned In Atlanta : 9/13/2019 9:27 am
A lot of people seemed surprised with the outcome in Dallas. I have said all along this is a 5-6 win team. If the wheels fall off Sunday what’s the fallout?

Obviously, the chatter regarding Jones will only intensify?

Will DG and Shurmur start to get heat yet again, for seeing this as a “retool, not rebuild season”?

Will this coaching staffs seats start to get warm ?

Hopefully the Giants win as they sure could use some positive vibes.
Jimmy Googs : 9/13/2019 3:01 pm : link
If they lose then expect the BBI threads will cover these likely themes:

- Is this the worst Giant defense ever?
- Pick the game Daniel Jones likely starts
- Is Pat Shurmur on the hot seat?
- Playcalling Needs to change
- Do the Giants actually practice?

And of course buried within several of these will be the ever-popular topic of how bad referee calls only negatively affected the Giants...

I would never root against the Giants winning, but maybe losing stops this "we are trying to win while rebuilding" crap.

If we are rebuilding, why aren't we finding out if Jones is the QB of the future? If we are 'trying to win,' why trade every tradeable asset, leaving very little experience on the team?

The sooner it becomes apparent they are not really 'trying to win' the better.

How much more can they possibly "get on with the rebuild" ?

We're very clearly in the middle of one. People wanted this all torn down and rebuilt. That's what's going on here. It takes more than one season to do it.

Then why are we playing Eli? Why is he even on the team, taking up cap space we could use for depth? If we are rebuilding, then why aren't we finding out exactly what we have in the rookie at the most important position?
Because we aren’t in any particular hurry

it all depends on how Eli does. If Eli stinks it up, then possibly we see DJ start but the D has to step up their game too. We have to do what the Jets couldnt do.

I just don't know who Eli is going to throw to this week? Our top 3 wideouts are out. He can be completely on and have miserable stats . . .

Shurmur better run the hell out of Saquon this week.

He's going to play and he'll get plenty of playing time this year. Relax.

By now?

This isn’t 2013.

I just want to escape football. I think I get why some fans quit. It’s too fucking painful anymore. I wish I was just a causal fan and didn’t live and die with toilet stained team.

It doesn't need to be painful. Perspective helps...

I know... I’m trying to shorten my memory shit I preach this all the time. What happened from 2013-2017 doesn’t matter anymore. New regime. New players. New directive bla bla...

It’s just that these blowout divisional losses are wearing me out.

I’ll never forget that moment in 2008 when I was walking out of the stadium after another one of the giants awesome performances. Even in the 80s, I never felt like that before. Defending champs and just killing everyone. I figured it was just our time. Then reality check. Then we rebounded in 2011 and win it again. I never thought we’d be this bad for this long. Never thought we’d eclipse the mid 90s in terms of suck.

Worse, I never imagined we’d have to come to grips with another wilderness that mirrors 1964-1981. Were over halfway there....
If the Giants get blown out Sunday

then I predict a 2 or 3 win season. One of those wins being Washington, we seem to always get at least one against them. The other one or two being Miami and Arizona. That my friends, is dismal.

The Giants will win Sunday.
To the OP s embedded pt.

The Giants have been retooling rather than rebuilding for the past 7 years, all based on Eli s previous success in the play offs
Why is this even a thread
Danny Dimes : 9/13/2019 9:47 pm : link
Bills suck, im sure Grandpa Eli can handle them. Its still better letting me start so I can start practicing and seeing if anything wrong with my dimes I throw. Even though I know there is absolutely nothing wrong with my throws.
I'll start rooting for loses

If that were to happen, we'd seriously need to consider James Bettcher on the hot seat. He's supposed to be a good coach...and he's brought over all these guys from Arizona over the past couple years that "know his system," so these miscommunication issues shouldn't continue to be so prevalent.

That said, I can see the Giants losing but not in a blow out. They need to be 2-2 after four games or Metlife is going to get ugly.

I just had a terrible feeling that tonight I saw the best Giant game that I will see this season.
Bettcher

After watching his D completely shit the bed, and then review the Dallas game tape. Blown coverages, receivers wide open, miss tackles etc etc... Film room every day boys. Oh and zero pressure. Plenty of blame all around.

was that the Giants didnt score more points.

This defense is going to need time to gel

There'll be no blowout this Sunday, its going to be a 20-17 game either way. Hopefully the Giants can figure out how to win this one because an 0-2 start for the third year in a row will be miserable

You weren't surprised by 5 consecutive TD's?

No I'm not surprised Dallas put up 30+. I am surprised by 5 straight. Alarmed.

We were HEALTHY.

I would not have predicted 5 straight TDs, but once they scored two in the fashion they did, it was evident they could only be stopped by a mistake.

As if now it just looks like no one on the D is as good as anyone may have thought they were. Not Hill, not Carter, not Baker, Peppers, or Tomlinson. Not McIntosh. No one!

I think a lot are underestimating Buffalo, when saying we're going to win tomorrow. They have a very good defense and we're lacking in weapons. Also, our defense could be what the doctor ordered for Allen. I definitely expect it to be difficult
While I am not a big fan of QB Allen's game his tendencies
Jimmy Googs : 9/14/2019 10:29 am : link
to want to take off running is a problem for a team that lacks anything good at linebacker to track him down and tackle him.

And I'm fairly sure our safeties and corners were read the riot act in practice/film this week so imagine they will be focused on their coverage responsibilities.

I could see a game where our defense plays better but is still not getting off the field...
I think we are heading for a Knicks like tailspin
Coach Red Beaulieu : 9/14/2019 10:36 am : link
they didnt handle the transition from their NY sports icon Ewing well, and the Giants already shit the bed with ELi.

Yankees were professonials with Jeter.

Oh please. No. The yanks just weren’t terrible when jeter was on his way out and better yet, the yanks had won 5 titles the prior 15 years. And again, they weren’t terrible. That tends to help.

Oh I forgot, Eli IS the reason why the giants have sucked these last 5-6 seasons. Hence, the giants fucked things up by employing the guy directly responsible. Never mind that if the giants cut Eli they’d still be paying him big money this season.
Soooo much stupid

A blow out? Buffalo is not a great team. And as much as we all hate Dallas only a 6 year old wouldn’t admit they have about as deep and well rounded a team in the NFL.

Easily the best or top 3 OL. Elliot one of the best weapons in the game. Their D is loaded. Buffalo is now their level. Wtf

Maybe this is superstitious, but careful: calling pessimism "stupid" around here tends to backfire spectacularly.
