Read an article about him seeking a trade where the Giants were identified as a possible trade partner — but Miami is supposed to be asking for a first-rounder. No way I give up a 2020 first-rounder if I'm the Giants. Wouldn't even discuss it.
Seriously, would they take Sam Beal? Julian Love? Corey Ballentine? Not DeAndre Baker. Not Peppers. I would maybe, maybe think about giving them Jenkins, but why would the Dolphins do that? They're going to tank and rebuild through the draft. What good does a veteran do them?
Nothing against Micah Fitzpatrick. But how to two rebuilding teams make a trade like this? Both need future draft assets, so while the Giants could use Fitzpatrick, they don't have the right assets to trade.
Minkah Fitzpatrick is still just as young as some of the players coming out of the NFL Draft and also has the important trait of having playing experience in the league. I do think he is worth trading a second round pick for considering he was originally taken in the first round and his first season in the league was very productive, especially for a rookie.
They will trade him if they receive an offer they like but they aren't trading him for less than that.
There is no way I give up a 1st next year for him. That could be a top 10 pick and wind up being a shot at Andrew Thomas, Chase Young, Henry Ruggs III, Jerry Jeudy, etc.
There has been A LOT of interest in Minkah Fitzpatrick.. By the sounds of it, Miami will recoup a 1st round pick or get a very nice package of picks/players in return.
But why trade a good, young player like Fitzpatrick? I understand dumping veterans who won’t be around when the rebuild is complete, but he’s in his second year and all you’re doing is creating another hole to fill.
Giants should be able to get 2 starters with their 1st and 2nd rounders in the coming draft. Hoping for a pass rusher, inside linebacker out of those first two, but WR and additional help on the offensive line is an option.
And I'm still optimistic about Beal. But the Giants just cluster-drafted DBs. Can't keep Minkah Fitzpatrick and the guys now on the squad.

Make the offer and walk away.
