I have no idea if the Giants will win. Difficult to feel confident regardless of any opponent given the recent track record of this team.
I think most predictions of Giants winning are based on what someone hopes will happen as opposed to any match up issues they feel the Giants fan exploit.
There's no such thing as a "must" game in Week 2... Â
And the young D was not ready for it. With 1 game under their belt and a less potent offense this week let's hope they show some improvement .
To me it was the offense that was the bigger disappointment. I thought we could do more stuff against them with the weapons we have. Dallas has a very good D and top DC but 10 points when it mattered isn't enough. And the offensive line played so much better than anything we saw last year. If there is one glimmer of hope is the OL looked pretty decent.
....this game is really the litmus test for Shurmur and Bettcher. With dreck at WR and 3 rookies starting on D do the coaches step up and earn their paychecks?
The Giants' D is still extremely green and isn't cohesive but we have every reason to expect improvement — at some point. On offense, the Giants' receiving corps isn't good but I expect them to line up Engram and/or Barkley outside quite a bit to compensate. We might see Gallman and even Perkins more involved today when Barkley's lined up wide, and "2 tight end" sets with Ellison at a true TE spot and and Engram wide.
On the Bills side, Allen is an unusual player, as much a running back as a QB. Also a turnover machine. I figure keep him contained in the pocket, try to keep him from beating you with his legs, and bait him into some INTs.
At some point, the game will slow down for those Giants young guys. Until then, who knows?
...get them to play with passion and smarts for 60 minutes?
I think the "passion" side of things is a little overrated. A little. Because it's hard to gauge emotion from the stands or on TV.
When the other team is kicking your ass, you generally look "flat," even if you're totally amped up. So if you want the team to appear excited, they better figure out a way to cover guys over the middle.

I can't remember a more pedestrian set of WRs to start for the Giants during a regular season game. There is no deep threat, and I question how effective Latimer will be even if he plays. The remaining WRs are basically underneath possession players who will need time to get open, especially against the Buffalo pass defense, which was #1 in the league last year. A mobile QB could buy them that time, but that is obviously not Eli. I expect the Bills to blitz Eli a lot, and concentrate on limiting Barkley and Engram. We may need a lot of 10-12 play drives just to get into FG range. I would split Barkley and Engram out, and use Penny as a blocker in the backfield to try and buy time.
On defense, I'd continually blitz Carter, Ximines, and Skipper to try and generate pass rush, and play Ballentine as the nickel. We also need to play a safety over the top on Brown. Allen's rocket arm and mobility could really hurt us, but I'd rather die with the blitz then allow him to just pick us apart.
His teammates love blocking for him.
Don't know if it got much mention on here this week, but Shep & Latimer graded out at the #2 & #3 WRs blocking last week in the entire league. Barkley's teammates want him running just as much as the fans.
Let the other team stop him, not the play calling.
This, in a high-scoring game - Eli lights it up, something like 34-31.
No garbage time today.
You really think the Giants are going to score 34 with Cody Latimer, Bennie Fowler, Russell Shepard and TJ Jones playing WR?
Or Eli is going to light up a team that allowed 179 pass yards per game last year & 155 to the Jets this year?
But you left Barkley and Engram out of the equation, and I think Fowler is underrated. I'm always hopeful, if not blindly optimistic. Any given Sunday, etc. GO GIANTS
I feel like after this game, people will speak of Â
Sadly, I’m thinking:
24-13 Buffalo.

...but why does today feel like it's "do or die" for the 2019 Giants' season?
While keeping him as protected from over-exposure injury as possible, you find ways to give him lots of touches.

Can they win another way?

- Antonio Hamilton gets targeted & abused
- Giants still have 0 pass rush
- We play good enough on offense to win
- but Eli does not a complete a pass '25+ yards in the air' not once.
BUF long snapper sails one out of the end zone?
...get them to play with passion and smarts for 60 minutes?

TJ Jones fielding the punt to end warmups. Seems like a good sign that he'll be the top punt returner today.
The key to winning is going to be turnovers. can this defense produce turnovers
