Key FA potentially available next year?

Giantz_comeback : 9/15/2019 4:22 pm
Not ready to throw the towel but right now a couple things we can look most forward to is Daniel Jones and a ton of money to spend in the offseason. Targets a WR , a Vet top CB, a FS, and a top pass rusher as a 3-4 DE or LB.

Who are some of the guys that could come available?

Ogletree and sign a real middle backer. Connelly has promise as the 2nd ILB.
Yannick Ngakoue.

“A vet top CB”

GTFO with that bullshit.

The Giants need pass rushers. LBs who can rush the passer, ER’s, whatever.

The one thing they don’t need is another bullshit investment in the secondary.
FA class looks
Breeze_94 : 9/15/2019 4:29 pm : link
pretty watered down next year.

Clowney/Ngakoue/Fowler are the key pass rushers but would surprise me if they aren't re-signed.

At WR, there are a few old guys but after that, the best options are Phillip Dorsett and Nelson Agholor.

Safety there is Justin Simmons, Damarious Randall

LB there is De'Vondre Campbell and Shaq Thompson

My top target would be LB/DE Yannick Ngakoue. He's only 24 but he already has 29.5 sacks during his first 3 years in the league. Adding him plus hopefully Chase Young would improve the D dramatically.

AJ Green on a short term deal would be a nice gamble.

I would also release Ogletree, Kareem Martin, and Rhett Ellison to free up an additional 20 million in cap room.

He should be at the top of our list. I suspect Jax will do what they can to sign him, but with Allen in the fold and having to pay Jalen, Yannick might end up drawing the short straw. He will be getting Demarcus Lawrence money and is worth it.

The best part about Yannick is that you don't have to project what he will do. He does it. Not just the sacks, but his FF are key. He has a knack for separating the ball from the QB.
Imagine second game in the season and we're already

I would love to add DL Chris Jones too but he will cost $20+ million per season. Use him as a 3-4 DE with Lawrence moving to the nose full-time would generate a nice pass rush.

Ngakoue is hurt now.

It might hurt his stock, but also, do we really want to spend big bucks on a rusher who's coming off an injured season?

How bad?
What makes you think a FAs want to play for the Giants
Arkbach : 9/15/2019 4:51 pm : link
Lousy team. Coach and maybe GM likley being fired soon. High taxes. I can't see good FAs wanting to risk their careers playing for the Giants. Hey, they can sign guys just looking for a paycheck.

Lol, he has a hamstring injury. He's not expected to be out long.
How about going back to a 4-3
Chip : 9/15/2019 5:10 pm : link
We have three tackles in Lawrence Tomlinson and Hill. Ogletree also seems like a middle LB in a 4-3 than a 3-4 LB. We would have to find the DEs in FA and the draft. The bigger question is if Sunshine comes out in the draft and we have a chance to draft him. Do you trade out and get a bevy of picks or do you take him if he comes out.
We had a lot of money going into 2016

Then everyone lost their minds when the giants spent the money. Couldn’t wait to get those bad contracts off the books. Now here we are once again with cap room coming. Do you trust this coaching staff with all these prospective shiny expensive toys coming next spring? I don’t.

Until this team drafts legit pro bowl defensive talent we are fucked. Fa isn’t going to save us. Only the draft can do that.

Those players led us to an 11-5 season largely due to the defense. That offense was totally neutered under MacAdoo. If we had a have decent offensive system that team had a chance to be pretty darn good because that D was excellent under Spagnuolo.

This. There is no savior(s) coming in FA. This team is going to have to build it the hard way.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to lose and their season slip away that soft tissue injuries tend to linger. He has no incentive to expose himself in a lost season. They are 0-2. Minshew isn't terrible, but they might have too deep of hole to climb out of if the losses continue to mount.

I'm not opposed to a 4-3. Most around here were giddy when Bettcher was hired as it meant installing the 3-4 which brought back fond memories. With regards to Sunshine, you draft him. DJ should not factor into any decision when it comes to Sunshine.
