One positive: The OL play has improved dramatically

Giantz_comeback : 9/15/2019 4:40 pm
But we are missing our top 2 WRs in Shep and Tate and were facing a pretty good D in Buf.

It's been ugly for sure, but I think this offense still has a chance to look good. The D on the other hand, is awfully young in key spots and Jenkins who we need to be almost a shutdown CB (as one of the few vets that could stabilize the secondary) is not playing that well.
Every week

there’s a new silver lining.

Next week. “Our offense sucks, but our long snapping game is really looking strong this year.”
So when do the excuses end
Junior22 : 9/15/2019 4:42 pm : link
Last 6 years it was oline and now it's good but its the receivers? Hahaha
the team has no identity on offense
japanhead : 9/15/2019 4:46 pm : link
and that's on shurmur but having your top WRs out of the game doesn't help things for sure.
Stop with the positives
Karl Hungus : 9/15/2019 4:53 pm : link
Ain't nobody got time for that
There are no positives anymore
djm : 9/15/2019 4:58 pm : link
And quite frankly, with all the resources invested into the OL they damn well better be playing well. The entire team sucks. 14 fucking points at home.
14. Buffalo? Please.

Team could go 0-16 and someone would be there to find the positive

I'm not seeing it

Too many plays they don't really open up a hole for Barkley and I still see a lot of pressure on Eli. Maybe they've improved some, but I'm not impressed yet.

The OL from where it was last year is significantly improved. But yeah lol we were coming from a really low bar. But they actually look half decent. The offense still hasnt looked great but it's a combo of Eli ,missing our top receivers and facing pretty good defenses.

I think the run-blocking has had its moments, but Shurmur's play calling has negatively affected the running game, not allowing it to build much momentum. Pass blocking has been much better compare to years past and is probably around league avg. Eli's not facing an onslaught like before, it's that his reduced physical ability is unable to take advantage
It's improved, but still below average

I can't find the stats
Bill in UT : 9/15/2019 5:11 pm : link
but if I remember right, Barkley had 107 yards on 18 carries. His first drive was 4 carries for 55. The rest of the game would have been 14 carries for 52 yards. That's 3.7 ypc. Considering his talent, that's not a lot of great holes being there.
at least
AndyMilligan : 9/15/2019 5:13 pm : link
the locker room is better. The guys like each other and they enjoy playing the game.
Where are all the pass plays that hit receivers in stride
Jimmy Googs : 9/15/2019 5:14 pm : link
so we can actually move the ball downfield.

Anybody know why we can't achieve this?

The results on the scoreboard dont show it but they've been significantly better than last year. Saquan hasnt had to be Houdini on every running play. Eli isnt having to dump it off or get rid of the ball in under 2 seconds either.

If I remember right, at one point Eli had 16 completions for 120 yards. That adds up to a lot of short shit.
This one is an odd duck to grade

The OL didn't look great, but look at the offense they were fielding - SS out, Lattimer hurt during the game. The D opened up daring the Giants to run and they did, then they adjusted figuring Barkley was the only one who could come close to inflicting any damage, and they were right.

So far this year, though - I think calling them 'average' would be charitable. They're not terrible, which is a good improvement, but dramatic improvement is a stretch.
The offensive line has been playing at least average.
Zeke's Alibi : 9/15/2019 6:49 pm : link
They are the only unit on the team that has been a positive outside RB and maybe TE.
OL is definitely better
bc4life : 9/15/2019 6:49 pm : link
Kept Eli clean for most of last week. It's not an excuse but an observation - an accurate one.
The OL is better.

But it ain't "good." It's okay but the pocket is usually pretty dirty.

It seems much better because it was sooooo bad.
Is it just me, or is Solder sub-par?
fkap : 9/15/2019 7:47 pm : link
every time I keyed on LT, he was getting pushed into the pocket.
overall, what little pocket was there didn't last long.

improved isn't good enough. average is a lot worse than it used to be.
