I would not be against making a play for him and offering him both the Head Coach and General Manager role. The "Around the NFL" podcast actually theorized this scenario happening and rumors of it materializing at some point this season. Whether he would be interested or not is another matter but he would not stand for the bullsh*t we are seeing happen with the franchise currently that's for sure.
Cutting Eli this year wasn’t going to help this team go from abominably bad to good or even average. Ok great we have an extra ten million in cap space last March. Ok? And? Who we getting? One or two decent players? Maybe? And? We’d still fucking suck.
Some of you are so fucking obsessed with cap space and Eli’s contract as if getting the big bad Eli contract off the books is the ultimate panacea. Same shit every week here.
Jones should be playing but the 800 LB gorilla in the room since 2011 hasn’t been the offense. Or even the OL. It’s been the defense. The defense has been so bad I can’t even recall a worse unit in nyg history. Why? Because there isn’t one. We’ve been in a defensive rock bottom for 7 fucking seasons now and it’s still Eli this Eli that bla bla fucking bla.
Bill wouldn't put up with this much bad play from his QB..
he wouldn't have gone into last season with Eli.
Lmao... I didn't know Eli was the HC, played defense and wr. Some of you should really stop wasting your time posting about a sport you clearly have no clue about.
because if you think he would go into a season with an unproven rookie as his starter without Eli at least on the Roster... then you are smoking something.

It isnt the ultimate panacea. The point of the thread is this sentimental bullshit his holding the giants from building something. Belichick is pragmatic and would realize this team isn't competing and would have seem Eli's play for what it was last year. Why trot him out there? He's literally not doing his job as he likes to say. But we needed a farewell tour. I really think if DG had his way he would have cut Eli before the year.

Hell, he was ready to jettison Brady a few years ago but Kraft ordered the Code Red to save him. And Brady is obviously the superior player...
he wouldn't have gone into last season with Eli.
Bill has a reputation for believing to let a player go a year early than a year late. Just think of the Cap space Giants would have had.
Now contrast that with Mara's attitude toward Eli.

That was a Bill Walsh thing, to let a guy go a year early.
So naturally Belichick would copy his mentor.

It was a Branch Rickey thing first.
