NFL officiating continues to be terrible.

Red Dog : 9/15/2019 5:04 pm
This would not have made much difference, if any in this game, BUT.....

how is it a penalty when a GIANT player has light contact with the helmet of the long snapper on a kick, but it is not a penalty when a Buffalo defender leads with his helmet and hits a receiver (Latimer) in the side of the helmet so hard that it knocks the receiver out of the game with a concussion?

I agree, the calls were questionable

And there were several very blatant missed calls on basic stuff like holding

strip fumble, touchdown

would have helped us
NFL sucks

I have watched football, basketball and baseball for more than 60 years. I’ve had a very good understanding of all the rules in every sport until the past decade of the NFL. Sure there are hair splitting judgement calls in other sports, but it seems every week I see something called in the NFL that comes as a surprise. Last week I learned you can full body tackle a receiver so long as the QB is unable to get off the pass. This week it was you can’t so much as touch the snapper on a place kick. I keep asking myself why I keep watching. Alas the Giants are an addiction.
The disallowed Diggs TD today is mystifying
PatersonPlank : 9/15/2019 5:22 pm : link
After review, the "reviewers" (whoever they are) determined that Diggs did score (which was a no brainer) but that Cook was blocking someone in the endzone before the catch (which he wasn't). He was running a pattern. It was truly shocking
That pencil necked official looked like he wanted to insert himself

into the game with that stupid flag, come on.

And someone is getting a fine for the launch-helmut hit.
Pittsburgh was victim to a DPI review
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 9/15/2019 5:28 pm : link
That Tomlin really was unhappy with.
holy shit, add a fumble recovery returned for a TD for NO
ChaChing : 9/15/2019 5:32 pm : link
Almost clear it was a fumble live, Saints run it back

half way down the return, idiot ref is blowing the play dead. That's right, can't review, play over...wow
how they didn't let that run to the end is amazing
ChaChing : 9/15/2019 5:35 pm : link
I guess they are still giving them the TO, but that's on the other end of the field

even the announcers / perera are bitching about it, esp NO getting the short end again...

That was horrible. The Saints should just walk off the field
and talk about luck...

this in a game that Brees was hurt & is out...so Bridgewater is running things
Refs suck. The Giants suck.

Tough times to be a Giants fan.
It's a bad rule

Imagine being a Saints fan
j_rud : 9/15/2019 7:46 pm : link
Wait 10 months for this, revenge and redemption, so on and so forth...and the refs fuck them again.
Also tho has been the norm for years but intentional grounding calls
ChaChing : 9/15/2019 8:42 pm : link
are completely random, and star QBs basically never get it. It basically never comes up

After being picky about Eli's wk 1, I've seen several today. AR they don't even mention it when it's blatant, Wentz just had one right now, inexplicably throws to NOWHERE and no call

Tbf, in terms of the purpose of the rule Eli's was grounding. But calling that one w/ a target near-ish and not even notice these other blatant ones...wtf
Tho this was obvious too...LOVE the PI challenges
ChaChing : 9/15/2019 8:45 pm : link
real valuable addition to the game...derp

holy shit

The roughing the passer was iffy. Putting a second back on the clock was complete horseshit.
Nobody in the league has more of an argument
Jimmy Googs : 9/15/2019 10:11 pm : link
than the Saints.

They are just getting screwed left and right...
It might be right by the letter...
ChaChing : 9/15/2019 10:22 pm : link
but Wentz under pressure, chucks the ball at his OL's back who is moving towards blocking for a screen...

Again, maybe it's not officially the rule, but why that isn't intentional grounding - throwing at an ineligible receiver to avoid a sack - makes no sense
Keeps on coming...I'm not upset the Eagles got F'd
ChaChing : 9/15/2019 10:39 pm : link
but apparently a QB diving fwd, if his knee comes down even without being touched "he's giving himself up?" so no further fwd progress. So Wentz got a 2pt conversion called short

I might have missed a bit of the convo so correct me if I'm wrong on that, but that's absolutely stupid. WTF jackass writes these things, and then what group of morons support it as a good idea? Maybe I'm missing something because otherwise it's really idiotic
