Blame Gettleman not these Coaches

I look at Gruden for example. I don't think Oakland has better talent than the Giants, yet they are 1-1 and a very competitive team. I think coaching has a lot to do with it.

Suck ass! Deandre baker is a press cb who has lost confidence because he has no idea how to play zone right now and nobody adjusts or even seems to talk to the kid. Thats shitty coaching. Im glad the head coach shaved cause he looked less like an alcoholic

Gettleman punted this season. He has no cap space and a bad roster. He knew this would happen. Not defending him, but he's going longer picture. This year was a necessary evil.

I agree with you 100%. Gettleman is an abrasive blowhard who has possibly worsened a team that was 8-24 coming into the season. His draft picks are turning out as bad as his free agent signings. Let's also not forget that Gettleman is also responsible for Shurmur who most folks here believe is a terrible head coach. Except for Barkley and the improvement of the o-line, what position is better today then the day he took over a 3-13 team?

Can we give his rookies asn second year players another season? This past draft played TWO games. His draft last year....18 games....I am sure you know that it takes longer than that.

Carter and ximenes have flashed. Hernandez is looking like a good OG. Connelly looks to have some ability. I think Lawrence will be fine inside. Obviously Barkley is a stud and Jones is unknown. Truth is rookies take time to develop. This roster was completely turned over. Need time to develop young guys

I realize that we have rookies and 2nd year guys playing and sometimes it takes more time but Gettleman told us when he was hired that this team was ready to contend and he is all in on our aging,way past his prime, quarterback. It is fucking crazy the NFL trend to hire outside consulting groups to hire their head coaches and they just hire the guys they know or the most obvious choice. The Bucs paid some consulting group 5 million and they came back with Arians. Yeh like no shit.

I feel like the NFL is sleeping on the Giants.

Yeh they all knew we weren't going to be good. The issue is that the problems they are having raises serious questions about the coaches, mostly the defense. I'd like to see what Shurmur's play calling looks like when we aren't massively in the hole. 2-2 TDs in opening drives with the dogshit we trot out there in the skill positions is something. I hope they build on this trend.

It's pretty simple. They say the standard responses to those questions. We have a good football team, we are building a culture. We are adding talented guys.

Like it or not, Jones is the guy who gets first crack to be the future, they have had two solid drafts. A 3rd this april would help plus some wise spending of nearly 100k. We need time for these young guys to develop

1) Simplify the Defense so the secondary doesn't look lost
2) Shurmer should give up the playcalling. He isn't calling a winning game. Maybe left him call the first offensive drive since that has worked well then give it to Shula or some other coach.

Baker is "abysmal" he has played TWO fucking games after missing most of training camp. Corner is a hard position to transition to in the NFL. Holy smokes guys.

Do you really trust DGs prowess on FA pickups? I mean, really feel confident on his ability to assess FA talent? I see a lot of wasted money on has-beens and JAGs.

This is a 3 year rebuild followed by another 3 year rebuild with a new HC and GM.

Dude we cut bait with omameh after a season. He had to field a team. Naturally that means signing some average at best fill ins. I still am okay with ogletree he isn't nearly as bad as fans here make him out to be.
Omameh they tried catching lightening in a bottle and cut bait when they saw he wasn't going to be anything. J stew I agree but I am sure his thought was vet leader in backfield, a locker room guy.
I am defending DG because when you turnover a roster this much, no shot you can compete immediately. Next year after a third solid draft(hope) and a wise spending of all that money, we will be better next year

I disagree with the roster being worse than two years ago because there are many unknowns. You cannot say that definitively. And show me a team that had this much turnover and youth compete immediately. It takes time for guys to develop. You wanna shit on DG fine but let's not act like it's easy in a year and some change to completely turnover roster AND be a good team. Last year's class looks like we landed a few really solid players. I think a few of this past class will be players too. One more like that and a solid free agency and the talent level of this team can seriously increase. When you look at everythong, DG has dealt with a ton of shit since he got here I cluding having to deal our best or second best player.
When you get rid of that mu h talent for personality reasons, it takes time to replace the production.

He's certainly made his share of mistakes, including Stewart, Omameh, Lauletta, and probably overestimating how much Eli had left. Eli's lack of mobility was painfully obvious last year.

But his drafts have generally been good, and all GMs miss. We need more time to assess his work, especially Jones has yet to play.

Outside of Barkley the jury is out on last year's is still out. This year's class? Way too early to tell but little to get excited about thus in a very small sample. The Rams, looking to win a Super Bowl last season looked for a trade partner for a former first round pick in his prime who they thought was not a good player. They found a sucker in Gettleman, who traded for him. Gettleman's free agent signings have been good? You have to be horrible not to be competitive in the NFL. The Dolphins chose not to be,what is the Giants excuse. Their are plenty of teams that are young and playing with rookie or second year quarterback who are far better then we are. BTW, how many wins you think the Giants will have this year?
