Connelly

Don’t mean to through a positive into all the gloom, but I liked Connelly today. Although he got run over by Gore for a TD, I thought he had a strong first game as a starter and will continue to grow.

I thought there were a few places that he got caught in the mess, but overall I really liked what I saw. I think he and carter can be strong building blocks.

I am curious how he will grade out by Sy.

I've generally liked him too, but . . . .

I didn't like watching him get knocked on his ass in the hole by 215 pound RB on the goal line for a TD.

Plays a little light in the pants. Maybe he can get stronger and be able to anchor better.
agree he’s a gamer who needs to get stronger and develop with some

He also does a lot of shoe string tackling, or the defender drags him for extra yards.

He diagnoses plays properly, but he doesn't execute that great. Which is an upgrade from our other LBs that can't diagnose or execute. We have a sad LB corp. Connelly would not be starter on any other NFL Defense. We do not have an NFL level defense.

Some posters lamenting about him getting run over by Gore. I was thinking, have you not scene Gore play before?

Even at 36, he may not have the speed, but he's still a bull.

Have my doubts about him, flashes at times. The next big game he has will be his first.

This exactly. I think I saw him get into position at least one other time in the game and miss the tackle there as well. His ability to diagnose and get into position is fantastic, especially for a rookie. Just needs a year in an NFL strength program and we might have ourselves a steal.

best thing about Connelly is that he has the instincts, desire, and speed for the position. He just needs to get stronger, which as others have said, will happen after he's been in an NFL weight training program for at least a year.

I honestly don't know what people see in Carter. For all the talk about his "flashes", it ain't much. The vast majority of the time, he has zero impact on the field.
