Don’t mean to through a positive into all the gloom, but I liked Connelly today. Although he got run over by Gore for a TD, I thought he had a strong first game as a starter and will continue to grow.
I thought there were a few places that he got caught in the mess, but overall I really liked what I saw. I think he and carter can be strong building blocks.

I am curious how he will grade out by Sy.
Plays a little light in the pants. Maybe he can get stronger and be able to anchor better.
He diagnoses plays properly, but he doesn't execute that great. Which is an upgrade from our other LBs that can't diagnose or execute. We have a sad LB corp. Connelly would not be starter on any other NFL Defense. We do not have an NFL level defense.
Even at 36, he may not have the speed, but he's still a bull.

This exactly. I think I saw him get into position at least one other time in the game and miss the tackle there as well. His ability to diagnose and get into position is fantastic, especially for a rookie. Just needs a year in an NFL strength program and we might have ourselves a steal.
I honestly don't know what people see in Carter. For all the talk about his "flashes", it ain't much. The vast majority of the time, he has zero impact on the field.
