What�s worse, if Mara forced Eli on the team?

Just play fucking Daniel Jones already, and then who cares if you lose every game by 2 TDs. I mean this is just stupid, its like ground hog day. wtf

This team doesn't have many NFL Caliber Players....or should I say top caliber players. We continue to delude ourselves that Eli Manning is actually moving this team forward when in fact we don't know what our future is. Is it Jones? Is it one of the QB's coming out of the college ranks this year? But playing Manning at this point is not allowing us to turn the corner on the future and seems likes a hapless exercise in pleasing a fan-hating ownership.

What a disgrace this has all become.

But an obvious signal to me was Mara saying he hopes Eli plays all year and Jones never sees the field. There was no need to say that. It just makes it harder to do what has to be done now.

Yup, it was a stupid thing for him to say because Eli should be on the bench already.

talent on the team is young and we have a ton of money next season so I don't really care that much about how the defense is playing. Yes I would like it to have a better passrush but I can see that its not there yet. The QB situation is the one thing that is killing me. We drafted the kid at 6 and he performed like a damn 6th pick in the draft and should be playing. The offense would be a lot better off than 14 points a week. I think we would be 1-1 this season.

part of attracting quality FAs next year is having your QB situation figured out, so they absolutely have to figure out if DJ is the real deal. Love Eli but it�s time to move on to the next phase.

They don't have much in the way of a pass rush,
and the secondary can't stop what is called the forward pass, not exactly a good combo...
hopefully the defense improves as the season moves forward, they are young
on that side of the ball, except for a few veterans.

My guess is that Eli was going to get last year and Dave was going to try to settle the Oline and give Eli one last chance to have some support.

DG and PS realized that the team was much worse than the film even showed which was why you saw so much house cleaning last year imo.

It has not worked out the way Mara wanted and now a new problem potentially exists......are Shurmur and staff the ones to move forward with?

The other issue I see is Eli has not had a full complement of receivers this season. Is Mara going to pull the plug after all he has done to give Eli one last chance? After thinking about it I think he gets a couple games with Tate back and see if that changes anything as well as giving the defense a couple more games to develop.

I am a fan of Eli and thought the team would contend....I was wrong. They really need to get Jones on the field. Shurmur and staff have to show progress with him. They can't just give the staff a free ride for next year and Jones on the bench too long does that.

and Shurmur realized the team was worse after reviewing film? What moves do you see that lead you to believe they're good at self scouting? If anything, I see an organization that has been unable to assess itself in any meaningful way for a decade.

A losing season with DJ starting will still keep me an interested viewer just to watch the kid develop.

A losing season with Eli starting, means I'm not watching any Giants game and I would rather spend it with family (named my 1st born son Eli too).

You know Shurmur wants to start DJ, but he doesn't want to get canned like Mcadoo.

Very true. There will be little resistance imo. In fact, I think many of the big supporters like me will be relieved for Eli.

Maybe a mobile QB would have scrambled for a handful of first downs every season, but that�s about it.

Could we have watched better QB play? Probably sometimes. Would it have made a difference? No way.

That�s why Eli hasn�t been replaced sooner. No one wants a successful team more than Mara, regardless of loyalty.

The line was bad, Eli made them look worse
The receivers were bad (ex OBJ), Eli made them look worse
The RBs were bad, Eli made them look worse
The coaching was bad, Eli made them look worse

For years, he's been declining.

I believe it's still the right move even though I'm very suspicious of Jones. They have done nothing but lose with Eli the last several years and he's clearly not the player he once was. They took a large risk and drafted Jones - there's no reason not to see what he can do.

Ideally he wouldn�t even be on this loser team right now so we could spend the money elsewhere. This idea that Eli can�t be benched until everything else is fixed is ridiculous. With a stronger head coach (Parcells, Bellichick, Walsh, etc) he would have been benched already.

Gettleman is just doing his job, which in some cases is what the owner tells him to do while acting has his shield and catching all the criticism.
