Giants Third Down Conversion Rate is 21.7%...

M.S. : 9/16/2019 7:03 am
...after two games, which is a small sample. But as a point of comparison:

Dallas
3rd Downs Made: 13
3rd Downs Attempted: 21
3rd Down Conversion Rate: 61.9%

Philadelphia
3rd Downs Made: 20
3rd Downs Attempted: 35
3rd Down Conversion Rate: 57.1%

Washington
3rd Downs Made: 7
3rd Downs Attempted: 22
3rd Down Conversion Rate: 31.8%

New York Giants
3rd Downs Made: 5
3rd Downs Attempted: 23
3rd Down Conversion Rate: 21.7%

Not gonna blame Eli Manning for the lack of front line receivers.

Not gonna blame Eli Manning for Rosas missed FG yesterday.

Not gonna blame Eli Manning for DeAndre Baker and the rest of our lovely defense.

But Eli Manning majorly owns our third down conversion rate (along with whatever idiot is calling the 3rd down plays.) And with it our measly 27:32 Time of Possession.

Eli can't get out of the pocket. He can't use his legs once in a while. He can't really throw on the run. And he just can't seem to avoid throwing the ball at the arms of defensive linemen.
Getting out of the pocket isn’t the reason

It’s a great to have but please. This team has no shot w this defense. Just like a free years ago when the offense was so bad the defense shatters

The Giants a mess. Saying Eli not being mobile about 3 rd downs is like saying your car w 200,000 on it would be better drag racing w new tires.

When 100 things are wrong between shitty coaching and severely limited personnel is just wasted energy.

Just say let’s put Jones in because this team is fighting w Miami for most inept. The defense alone won’t let this team win more than 4 games. Who fucking cares about Eli’s immobility when 3-10 for the opposition is an automatic first. The ship is sinking and you’re rearranging deck chairs

I’m fine w putting Jones in but losing by 7-10 is still losing. And this team will continue to lose unless they can score 30-40 per game every week IMO
Being poor on 3rd down usually means being poor on 1st and 2nd down
robbieballs2003 : 9/16/2019 7:15 am : link
.
And it’s odd
Andy in Boston : 9/16/2019 7:15 am : link
Because the protection has been good.
How may of those were third and long?
jsuds : 9/16/2019 7:28 am : link
Most of them I bet.

It's very easy to point a finger at our extremely shitty defense. But it's not like Eli is leading our offense on time-eating long drives thereby giving the defense a blow.

As I said, Eli is not responsible for our defense. But he is a major owner for why we can't sustain drives. He can't threaten a defense with his arm or his legs. And sometimes the two work in complementary fashion. But not with Eli. There's no gas in his tank.
Nobody on this team should be pointing fingers
Jimmy Googs : 9/16/2019 7:36 am : link
at anybody.

You would run out fingers too quickly
Eli used
rocco8112 : 9/16/2019 7:47 am : link
to be an assasin on third.

Those days are long gone. This HC and his philosophy want to throw short of sticks on third and count on YAC. Not working.

Can't convert 3rd downs on offense,
BigBlue in Keys : 9/16/2019 7:48 am : link
can't stop 3rd downs on defense. Simple recipe for total disaster.
The QB isn’t a playmaker
Rflairr : 9/16/2019 7:58 am : link
After the first scripted drive. They can’t do anything on offense.
This will get me killed

But listening to people defend Eli over the last several years is like having a political argument to me. There is no climate change. Icebergs are just melting. The temperature of the ocean is just going up because it does sometimes. The scientist don’t know what they are talking about you should only listen to the politicians and the business owners.

Or - It’s everyone’s fault except Eli. The losing record over the last six years it’s not his fault. All the interceptions his thrown are not his fault. If it isn’t that horrible offense of line it’s the terrible receivers. Never mind his record sucked would having good receivers. Lots of people say the only way to judge a quarterback is their record. Not for Eli because he was the quarterback on a team that won two Super Bowls because of incredible defense. We’ve never won another playoff game in his career.

You don’t need a quarterback that his mobile in the pocket . what the hell are you talking about? We have Joe Flacco and the Broncos have Eli Manning and they both suck. Stop the madness wake up and smell reality. It’s over and it’s now an embarrassment to everyone in the New York Giants family. Our defense absolutely sucks and our offense does great on the first drive and then disappears. Keep defending Eli while the rest of the world laughs at him and us. He should’ve been gone years ago put his name in the ring of fame and move on. You saw a buffalo qb That completely outplayed number 10 of the Giants. When is enough enough? Maybe will see someone post a string of rubbish that we should extend Eli? When will that come? I’ve watch the Giants in person for 50 years an that completely outplayed number 10 of the Giants. When is enough enough? Maybe will see someone post a string of rubbish that we should extend Eli? When will that come? I’ve watch the Giants in person for 50 years. We are much closer to being a team of the 70s than anyone wants to admit.

There was a point in 3rd quarter yesterday where our average yards to go on 3rd down was 10. He started very poorly, but later he had gone 7 for 7 and 8 of 10 on completions at different points so those down and distances weren't necessarily all on him either.

Not excusing Manning at all. He definitely was streaky yesterday and played poorly overall, but you're just not going to succeed as an offense when you're regularly looking at 3rd and 8+ (and you seem to pass the ball almost all the time when it's 3rd and 2). Crazy that this team is constantly in 3rd and long with Saquon at RB and a seemingly improved OL.
Here we go with Man Made Global Warming
RollBlue : 9/16/2019 8:22 am : link
or is it Climate Change? Go back and look at the predictions the "scientist" have been making since the 70s vs what's actually occurred - it's laughable, just like DG, PS and this team right now - and DG was going to kick ass...
What is the third down completion % against our defense?
Rick in Dallas : 9/16/2019 8:34 am : link
Must be around 65%
Defense can never get off the field
It's been years since the Giants
barens : 9/16/2019 8:37 am : link
have had a solid third down conversion rate, not just this year. Who's to blame for that?

One constant. Everything around him has changed. Coaches, Coordinators, players, front office, etc
because of stuff like this
