Is it still just a "Media Conspiracy" that we suck?

Tesla : 9/16/2019 9:42 am
Or is it possible that that there's not some vast anti-NY conspiracy that we would be one of the worst teams in the league this year, but rather just an objective analysis of our roster?

I don't fault the media for saying we will be bad this year
Essex : 9/16/2019 9:45 am : link
but I do think there views of our future are not really accurate and I still stand by that. We have a lot of young players, who knows how they will pan out, but if Jones hits (big if), combining him with Barkley in the future is a good starting point. So, in the near term, the media was not and is not wrong, I am not giving them credit for the long term yet.

is the BBI douchebags who come out of the weeds to call out fans who may have been overly optimistic. Newsflash, that is what being a fan is about, and this is a GIANTS FAN BOARD!

These db's relish in the Giants sucking, and I really wonder if they are fans at all.
All true
greek13 : 9/16/2019 10:09 am : link
The worst part about this board is when people call you out when you are disagreeing or disgusted by performances.I’ve been called a terrible fan if people only knew what Tears love and money I’ve spent for 50 years with
The team. Super Bowl trips - season tickets amen
You know who you are-

Our franchise is currently a joke. we have been terrible terrible for three years now. We have a horrible owner horrible. He may be a great guy he is a horrible owner. Our coach is a robot. Our quarterback absolutely sucks and has no business being in the NFL anymore. He was fantastic and I routed my ass off for him for 10 years. He is done. That does not make me a bad fan. We let a brash general manager force out a potential and future Hall of Fame coach and manager in Tom Coughlin. We compare ourselves to the Cleveland Browns. The country laughs at us. So what do we do as a Fanbase? Write letters. Are used to write to Georgia young and he used to write me back all of the time. I’ve saved every letter. Scream yell burn your tickets do whatever you can to let management know that we are not happy. Fly a plane with a Banner
This is a horrible thing to say but I am selling every ticket I have now until Daniel Jones is the quarterback. I will route my ass off from home but I can’t take it. I’m too old to drive four hours each way to watch that pile of shit

This is the completely wrong take. Do you know how we ended up with Reese for way too long? All the in Reese I trust BS and the mixed reviews of his work well into the evidence it was bad. Again, this shouldn’t be the case but Mara is clearly heavily influenced by the fans. The blind optimism and people wanting to wave pom poms at a dumpster fire is going to prolong the amount of time we have to smell burning garbage. If there are any “dbs” it’s the contingent that is helping prop up the legitimacy of this organization’s rot.

It was horrifying to see Giants fans exhibiting the traits usually associated with Redskins fans.

Optimism is one thing - delusion is another.

That's not the point. Call out management, fine, they deserve it, fans who might have been a little over-exuberant are ding what fans do. There is no need to call them out, but it is a regular feature here, as if those who do the calling out are happy the Giants suck so they can act like assholes.
Reese had at least earned some rope
Greg from LI : 9/16/2019 10:19 am : link
They did win two titles during his tenure. It bought him (and Coughlin) way too much rope, but I understand why they got some leeway.

As a GM, Gettleman has no credit card - what he did in his previous stint as pro scouting director doesn't count. The Giants would never fire him this year no matter how badly this turns out, but at the very least his seat should be burning hot next offseason if we don't start to see some noticeable development by the end of the season.

Does Shurmur get next year no matter what?
My gut feeling is yes
Greg from LI : 9/16/2019 10:22 am : link
They are always slow to fire people. McAdoo was the only exception, and he dug his own grave by making John Mara look bad over the Eli/Geno thing.
Yeah I wasn’t saying the
NoGainDayne : 9/16/2019 10:26 am : link
In Reese I Trust people where off base in how they got there. Just that I think the love some felt for him made him stay longer than he should have.

Obvious completely agree with the take that Gettleman has done nothing to deserve anything close to the slack Reese got. Which is why people wanting to slant the confidence we should have in our leaders in overly positive lights is scary considering the team decision making still seems to be heavily influenced by the types of letters sent to our owner.

Let's be frank
RollBlue : 9/16/2019 10:27 am : link
the last 2-3 years of TC's tenure, he flat out sucked as a coach. Moving on from him was much needed, the problem was hiring MacAdoo, and then Shurmur. Was Reese to blame for the MacAdoo hire? I still think that was on Mara.

I will give Mara credit for sticking with TC after 2006 when many wanted TC fired back then. The Giants went on to win two Super Bowls, and Reese was a major part of that as well. Big time Giants fans should be thankful for that.

I think DG has been a poor GM, but if he got the Jones pick right, I hope he has the guts to move on form Coaches as he does players - this coaching staff if horrific.

There was a concerted effort by some posters here (all silent today) to enforce a view on this board that all was well, the rebuild was already a success, and any negativity towards the team was part of some conspiracy. At one point, there was a thread by a poster, who appears to be a real actual human, that there needs to be "consequences" (what that meant was left vague) for those in the media who questioned the offseason. These posters also peddled fake stats (for example, the Giants were the best deep passing team in the NFL in 2018!) either in bad faith or because they just could not understand what the stats they were citing actually meant. Not good either way.

I agree that Giants fans who wanted to believe and tried to have optimism heading into the season do not deserve call outs. But this particular subset I reference above are very deserving of any fun that others have at their expense.

I'll add to that, some of these same posters would blast (i.e., hurl personal expletive laden insults) at anyone who civilly engaged in dialogue that suggested the Giants are a bad franchise and have been for some time, while questioning the moves without seeing any tangible results. Curiously, those posters are silent yesterday and today.

Listen, we all hope the Giants succeed, if they finish the year 14-2, everyone on this board will be happy. However, suggesting that the team has been bad as has the overall franchise, I mean come on, that's about as clear as it gets and should subject a poster to tirade from staunch defenders of the status quo.
I think it is the opposite. The long time posters tend to be the
Jim in Hoboken : 9/16/2019 10:58 am : link
optimists and they call out the newbies who dare complain about the team. Of course, there are old timers with thick skin who manage to hang on even though they are ridiculed relentlessly.

The thing is, the Giants haven’t been good for a long time. I don’t understand those who get personally offended when the team or a player gets criticized. When the team win, we are happy and have nothing to complain about. When it’s the opposite, that’s what the fans do, we come here to vent. And a lot of what we argue about aren’t absolutes, also, so what if you are proven right or wrong, congrats you have more time to sit at home and pound the keyboards to research obscure stats?

Leave us along and let us rant. The team blows, what else are we gonna do?

Landon Collins like we let him walk when he was willing to play for free.
If you think paying the starting QB 20M+ is bad, what do you think of paying more than half of that to a one-dimensional safety coming off injury?

I don't think I heard anyone in BBI say that we should've paid him what he got.. but whats funny is people actually said Peppers was a better player replacing him.. I repeatedly heard that Peppers is a 2 way player who will completely upgrade our secondary.. I even heard that people expected Peppers to be better than 2016 Collins.. at some point it gets nauseating that people simply listen to DG and buy this bull shit..
