Janoris Jenkins calls out the Giants pass rush

Mike in Long Beach : 9/16/2019 10:39 am
Didn't see this posted...

Quote:
"Who can cover somebody for 10 seconds?" Jenkins said. "Go look at it within the first five seconds of the route. He's not open. If he scrambles and we ain't got no pressure, what you want me to do? I can't cover this side and that side. C’mon, bro. We got to play football around here."

Jenkins is smart! He knows the fastest exit is by criticizing the team
GiantBlue : 9/16/2019 10:41 am : link
He will be a mid-season trade for a 4th or 5th round pick.

He has played his heart out for us and hopefully he gets traded to a contender.

But it is starting now.......
He isn't wrong!
figgy2989 : 9/16/2019 10:41 am : link
.
He is 100% right...
Dnew15 : 9/16/2019 10:42 am : link
but you can't say it.
JJ will be shipped out for a 3rd pick when someone on a good team goes down. Love him - but any NFL caliber player that isn't a part of the rebuild - the Giants should be looking to move.
I saw his comments last night
Chip : 9/16/2019 10:42 am : link
and he is right.
last week I would have said yes...
Kevin(formerly Tiki4Six) : 9/16/2019 10:42 am : link
but yesterday, they had 3 sacks and forced him out of the pockets all day long.

Thats on the Coordinator to get on his guys to keep the QB in the pocket.
he
Eric from BBI : Admin : 9/16/2019 10:43 am : link
should keep his mouth shut... most of the secondary can't cover either.
I heard it
Pete in MD : 9/16/2019 10:45 am : link
mentioned on the radio. He's obviously not completely wrong and frustrated but you don't like to hear stuff like this said to the press. Also, the secondary has its issues too. There have been many quick drop plays where the ball is thrown before any pass rush would get there that are poorly covered.
Count me in the “he’s not wrong, but
mfsd : 9/16/2019 10:46 am : link
he should keep his mouth shut, as there’s a lot more that’s wrong than just the pass rush” camp.

He should take a look across the field
Jay on the Island : 9/16/2019 10:46 am : link
Deandre Baker had one of the worst games that I have seen in years. I am confident that he will improve to become a dependable building block but he was downright awful yesterday.

I'm a huge fan of Janoris Jenkins...
M.S. : 9/16/2019 10:47 am : link

...but I thought he sucked in Dallas last week and sucked yesterday as well.

He shouldn't be talking about the pass rush.
Janoris won't have to put up with this much longer
Jimmy Googs : 9/16/2019 10:47 am : link
he is clearly on this next round of restructuring cuts.

Hard to believe that DeAndre Baker was even WORSE last week. Either let this guy play man up or sit his sorry ass down. He looks entirely bewildered in zone, as in let me vacate my fucking zone so I can trail a guy covered by my safety, while the offense completes a fucking 40 yard pass in my zone with no one around.

Just a complete fuck up.

Hold on a sec. When they drafted Baker. He was a physical Press corner. The first two games they have him playing 8 yards off the WRs. Giving them huge cushion. And people want to blame the player. Let him play to his strengths. The problem is this dumbass coaching staff.
Dissention on the rise!

Same thing there - they draft a guy who made his name as a physical, pressing man cover corner in college, then stick him in zone playing off the ball and watched him flounder until they finally let him play man coverage, and he turned his career around.
Actually the pass rush....
Tesla : 9/16/2019 10:55 am : link
was much better this week than last week. When the DB's had to cover for long periods of time is was because of Josh Allen's scrambling abilities.

It was pretty natural when guys are blowing by u you somehow would up
10 yards behind los. Maybe that 1/10th of a second matters more than we think
Guy played bama wr’s every yr. think he would be used to it

Completely agree on how they're not using Baker to his strengths. Should be coaching 101 but evidently it's not.
Was it the lack of pass rush
NBGblue : 9/16/2019 11:24 am : link
that left Dallas' Tight Ends wide open last week ? I don't think so. Plenty of blame to go around on this team. Pointing fingers is not a good idea.

Carl Banks just said he was terrible in press man too. Said problem with him is his head is comp, etely swimming right now.
Baker could still be feeling some issue with his knee
Rjanyg : 9/16/2019 11:35 am : link
, which maybe why the coaches are keeping him back from the WR.

His skill set is still press-man.
I agree with Janoris
90.Cal : 9/16/2019 11:37 am : link
But you don't throw your teammates under the bus period. These comments don't help his trade value and will only make us more willing to trade him.

Just because players don't air their dirty laundry to the press doesn't mean they are not angry. I prefer they keep this stuff inside. I don't see anything positive at all that comes from calling others out through the media.

This, the Giants were trying to put him in a leadership role...this isn’t good leadership.
There is nothing wrong with Jackrabbits comments.
Brown Recluse : 9/16/2019 11:48 am : link
And Lorenzo Carter agreed with him, so there is no divide in the locker room right now, or an issue with culture.

The context of the comments? No, some of us don't like the idea that he feels it's a positive thing to unload comments about another unit or even the DC publicly.

Also, there's a big difference between comments like this and comments made in an interview with some ratty-looking rapper, made specifically to throw one teammate under the bus.

Apples and oranges.

Exactly, I see guys open before a rush could even get there.

And Buffalo dropped a few too.

I guess we'll see what happens...but from what I've read - its not an issue among his teammates. Media blowing things out of proportion as usual.
Perhaps

Yeah its one thing to call out guys that are proven pash rushing stars to light a fire, but these are a bunch of scrubs. This doesn't accomplish anything.
***Breaking News*** rats with sinking careers
Stu11 : 9/16/2019 12:19 pm : link
want off the sinking ship. Shocker. Not to mention coming off yesterday the defensive problems were far from the pass rush so its total bullshit and I can't believe so many here agree with him. The Dallas game? Yes but yesterday they got pressure and the 3 td drives in a row the secondary couldn't cover a receiver for 2 seconds.
Once jenkins is traded for a 5th rounder
chuckydee9 : 9/16/2019 12:29 pm : link
there isn't anyone on the defense even average enough to say anything bad.. and the culture then will win us games..

There's a lot of damning with faint praise around here these days. Much like how the OL is "improved" without actually being any better than average, the pass rush was "much better" without actually being good.
Jenkins does not suck ! he has been sticking his nose into
Bluesbreaker : 9/16/2019 1:08 pm : link
the line making tackles in the run game you saw him
chasing around John Brown one of the fastest players in football gave up 7-72 he had 7 solo tackles as well .
That said I would move him for a draft pick I think
he is worth a 4th rounder at least a contender has a need
for a CB we will move him . His effort has been very
good this season and he certainly doesn't suck
