shit as Eli gets from the Giants fan base, the guy truly does deserve so much credit for never missing a game over 16 years! Regardless if its luck or him being "smart" to avoid injuries, its stunning that he hasnt even got a freak injury like what Brees or Ben just got.
Not to sound macabre, but an Eli injury would clean up this mess the Â
The Steelers purged out Bell and Brown. But with Ben now down for the year and a very good QB crop set for the 2020 draft, everything is lined for them to make the transition to the future faster than they even could have imagined by drafting their next franchise QB.
And they don't have to be cute about it or figure out "the right way" to send him off on his way like their sister franchise in the NFC.
This is what happens when your offseason workouts consist of Â
I wasn't rooting for an injury, just stating it seems like the only way this can be handled without it being a clusyerfuck. Although that ship has probably sailed.
Listen, if they wanted to they could always couch Â
Tomlin added that the Steelers did not have to make any adjustments to their offensive game plan after Rudolph entered the game. Rudolph, who also spoke to reporters following Sunday's game, said that the extra reps he receives on Wednesday — Big Ben's standard rest day — helped prepare him for this opportunity.
"You gotta be prepared for those situations whenever your number is called," he said. "I thought I was ready. I had a really good feel for the age plan … I had a lot of reps this week, and I didn't feel like I was unprepared, by any means."
Injury no for shame but an “injury “ for him to save face I’ve seen worse even though he’s not the type that would need that. Ben I could see needing it when it’s over
Jags ain’t done, not with the legend Gardner Minshew leading them boys ...
to the bottom of the AFC South. They are 0-2. If they lose against the Titans this Thursday, they won't have to rush Foles back to save the season as it will be over.

RE: This is what happens when your offseason workouts consist of Â
Shurmur will simply tell him he's starting Jones and Eli should stand ready to come into the game if Jone's gets injured. I don't think Shurmur, Gettleman, or Mara/Tisch care about Eli's sensitive nature. He's being paid $23 million to lose. So take a seat, Eli.
Putting aside the cap situation, is Eli even an upgrade over Rudolph? And even if they they think he is, is it worth to bring him, have to wait for him to learn the playbook and not get to see what they have in Rudolph?
RE: Steelers will be in the race to the bottom with us. Â
Who is the worst: Miami, Arizona, Giants, or Pittsburgh? Anyone I'm missing? Maybe Washington?
God what a sorry, but true thought as a Giants fan. ugh....I don't think the steelers are in the same boat as us though. They have a proven winner for a coach, some decent talent and a competent front office. Miami and Arizona are right next to us on the Titanic though....

Not true. If the season continues to spiral downward and the offense isn't putting up points, it'll be easy to make the change.
Who exactly did Eli have to throw to yesterday at WR. SS has a concussion, Golden Tate is still suspended, their rookie speed wr Slayton is out with a hammy and they just traded OBJ. Just Latimer and glorified practice squad players.
They did, now under contract through 2021.
Shame on you.
I want Jones to start too but get a grip.
You are not wrong.

Though I don't think Eli would care as much about saving face.
So, let's see..
Jet's done
Steeler's done
Giants' done
Saints done
Jags done
I'm sure I'm missing a team somewhere.
Crazy Big Ben and Eli out in the same year.
"You gotta be prepared for those situations whenever your number is called," he said. "I thought I was ready. I had a really good feel for the age plan … I had a lot of reps this week, and I didn't feel like I was unprepared, by any means."
Should we start giving Eli rest days?

Two years. $25m in dead money if cut next year with $8.5m cap relief.

2020 salary guaranteed for injury only
would be a huge cap hit but they may have to do it. Not sure if they get any relief if he retires?

Would still be on the hook for 8.5 of salary guaranteed for injury and 25 mil of signing bonus so 33.5 mil of dead cap
ouch

Somehow have to get Eli to waive the no-trade clause, but it makes all the sense in the world.
Cincinnati, NY Jets, Jacksonville,
or what about Saints (Brees is out for half the year)
Somehow have to get Eli to waive the no-trade clause, but it makes all the sense in the world.
For everybody but the one person who can decide where he wants to play.

trade Eli to Pitt, start DJ

Wouldn't Eli rather play for the Steelers than this train wreck?

LOL, he's such a scumbag
+1... not sure what makes this a mess? This is a transition and everyone knows what's happening. Just a matter of when.

The Maras and Rooneys are fine marrying one another. But trading QBs? Especially a NY icon like Eli? I can't see that in a million years...
Sure why not. Just have Pitt send a 1st and 3rd...

Why are the Saints done? They are 1-1, get Brees back in 6 weeks.......they just need to stay afloat.

Isn't that the UCL? And doesn't it require Tommy John surgery?
See Jake Delhomme. After his Tommy John at several years younger he never came back to form.
