there are good areas and some not so good. Generally speaking its a good community but there are better options near by. Where are you looking? What is your budget? Do you have kids? Haverstaraw is not the best school system in the area, it tends to be a little more depressed economically.

Thanks for the input. A good friend of mine is looking to move into the area. His kids are older now so there's no issue about the local school system. He wanted a place that would keep him on the west bank of the Hudson.
The issue I have seen up there is you have a lot of retired or "artsy" folks who have customized their homes in such a way that the resale market is limited.
