Peppers

EJJ : 9/17/2019 10:07 am
I know it's only 2 games and I'm not bashing BUT he seems invisible.
From what I've read and know he's a young former #1 pick who was supposed to be Collins equal against the run and slightly better in coverage.
Collins sucked in coverage except in 2016 some how he never came close to that year and was to expensive I get that but when he hit you he hit! Yes he missed some tackles but he was usually a presence.
From all the press I thought this was a good addition but so far along with the entire D he's disappointing.
When your linebackers suck

and your edge rushers suck, and Free Safety sucks, it is going to hard for your Strong Safety to look good
It's the coaching...
nzyme : 9/17/2019 10:11 am : link
Even a seasoned veteran like Antoine Bethea, who was in Betchers' system before, is lost as well. Makes you ask yourself what the hell is coaching when even "HIS" guys are lost in said system!

Peppers will be fine once the coach gets his head out of his ass!
It's not only 2 games,
Section331 : 9/17/2019 10:12 am : link
he was pretty bad in Cleveland too.

Uh huh. What exactly is this statement based on? He stunk in Cleveland and they couldn't wait to be rid of him.
A LOT of it
lugnut : 9/17/2019 10:18 am : link
Is coaching, I think. Peppers has all the athletic ability in the world but he needs to be taught how to use it at S. He was an LB at Mich. Based partly on what I’m seeing with Baker though — totally lost great athlete — I have no faith whatsoever our coaches at any level know what the eff they’re doing.

Don't bring in logic... Peppers is a sure fire first round worthy player.. Don't let the actual performance on the field tell you otherwise..
THis it totally coaching

If this isn't coaching then we need to drop a shit ton of players from this roster!
Looks the same as he did last year.
larryflower37 : 9/17/2019 10:44 am : link
He has been living on potential since he was drafted he didn't have a position in college and has had to learn the safety position.
He is not growing into a top notch safety.

He does however, exhibit great culture

Yeah, they wanted him gone so badly that Dorsey almost nixed the OBJ deal to keep him. He was the sticking point.
Now he may turn out to be a failure, but you have to give him more than two games. I agree that he has been invisible up until this point. But can we wait half a season to see if Bettcher can put a defensive game plan together before writing him off?
He's been something between
Coach Red Beaulieu : 9/17/2019 10:48 am : link
Riley and Ed Reed.

So far nothing noticeably bad, he does get swallowed up by guards in the second level because of poor LB play, but thats what you would expect with a G vs S.
I have a mental image....
Tesla : 9/17/2019 10:53 am : link
of John Dorsey getting of the phone and talking with the rest of Cleveland's front office:

"I just got off the phone with Gettleman. He's willing to trade us OBJ, but we need to send him this years first and third."

- Ok, that's not bad at all, we can live with that. Anything else?

"Yes, there's also, there's a player he's adamant about getting from our current roster."

- Oh shit...he wants Garrett? Or Ward?

- "No. He's insisting upon......Jabril Peppers."

Peppers? Entire room break out in uproarious laughter.

That is bullshit. They did counter the demand for Peppers by offering Ogbah, but Dorsey himself said he wasn't going to let Peppers keep them from getting Odell. In no way was he going to nix that deal because of Peppers.

Really.. did you even look at the video posted above? That suckage was niether coaching nor unnoticed.. The dude is well below first round value.. But to admit that must mean admitting DG made a bad move..

Go read what Skins fans are saying about Collins. Basically, he's not living up to the contract.
So what's the record for

on the team in tackles, so it isn't like he's not being seen, unless one is just using hyperbole to try and trash him.

You can cherry pick videos, so no I didn't watch it. Until the secondary plays a coherent/cohesive game, it is pretty hard to pick on anyone except a rookie and the FS...
he's not been good

my hope is they put him in position to succeed and he does.
but hes underwhelmed so far
Second on the team in tackles?

In not meaningful, but if you miss the number of times he's in on tackles as him being invisible, you are either blind or doing it with an agenda.

Do you think Peppers is a good player?

Are you going to state your opinion or just rag on others for having one?
Its early but
moaltch : 9/17/2019 2:36 pm : link
he looks nowhere near LC in the run game and no better in the passing game.

Or invisible can refer to not making any impact plays.

I actually think Peppers is a sound tackler and will be someone who will be a mainstay on the defense for the nest few years.

And ragging on those who are trying to lump everyone on the defense as terrible is just a by product, but I don't expect your dim ass to grasp that.

We are both talking about Jabril Peppers, right?

Are you thinking of Julius peppers? Maybe Dr Pepper?

Peppers not pleasing his fans.......1.5 million per

Haven’t really seen any redskins action
ron mexico : 9/17/2019 7:19 pm : link
and am leery of using PFF based analytics, but here’s this

Not sure where this redskins fans aren’t happy with Landon is coming from and frankly don’t really care.

If peppers develops into a solid player, I’ll gladly eat my crow. I don’t see it in him. He has bad instincts. I don’t think that is something you can coach.

On second thought, maybe not since, his arguments about him being good were hot dog shit.

Hey, here’s some math! They traded for Peppers, a mediocre at best safety and some picks for and are eating a shit ton of money due to Beckham’s brand new contract because of it.

Maybe try to come up with a better argument next time?

Beckham’s money only counts for this year, those contracts continue.

Awesome. Can’t wait to watch Peppers continue to not live up to the expectations this GM said he was akin to. But hey, whatever it takes to say the Giants ‘won the trade’.

Christ.
