NFT: Calf Injury..Help!

Gordo : 9/17/2019 10:13 am
so lastnight, i was playing our weekly pickup Ultimate game and I planted and jumped for a disc the same time a guy behind me grazed my calf with his cleat. I had a shooting pain through my calf like a cramp, which i thought it was at first, but it hasn't gone away.

I believe pulled my calf to some degree and i'm on crutches right now to get around, i can't put any weight on my toes at all. Anybody else have this type of injury? any tips?

I scheduled a Doctors appointment for today, so i'm sure i will get a plan together. Thanks in advance!
Sounds like you're the Sam Beal...

Roll it out and ice it
If you really have a pulled/torn calf

You are gonna need to rest the shit out of it and when you feel better wait another two weeks before doing anything to test it. May want to get a script for PT after a few weeks rest.

I had a calf strain that lingered for a year because I was too stubborn to let it heal.
Just had a grade 3 partially torn calf

There's really not much you can do for it than youre already doing. Rest, ice, use crutches or get a walking boot. After a few weeks you should be good to start PT or get into some stretches. Whatever you do, do NOT rush back into physical activity once you're feeling better. Take the time to build it up and re-strengthen.
listen to what others have said

and try to rub it going across the muscle fibers (from side to side instead of up and down the leg).
you'll see a lot of improvement in 3 weeks, but it will be 6 before you can really use it at full speed. take it easy.
thanks for the tips
