Greatest Giant if my lifetime, 2-0 against the GOAT in Super Bowls. Class act all the way. Sad it’s over although it is certainly time. Thanks for everything Eli.
Eli's strengths were football IQ, work ethic, professionalism, and the ability to quiet his mind and focus when it was needed most. very, very fortunate that he was a NY Giant.
Not to mention all the great things he did off the field.
You are my favorite Giant of all time.
And more importantly one of my favorite people of all time.
When people say the word class, I think of you first.
really nothing more to say. I saw Simms, I saw Hostetler; they were great but nothing compares to Eli. Serve out your term with dignity, get paid, retire as the greatest NYG QB ever.
rarely do you come across a guy who plays that long, with all of the interviews and NEVER says the wrong thing. Never tosses another team mate or a coach under the bus.
2011 NFC Championship in the rain and mud at SF. I have no idea how he avoided serious injury with all the hits he took Eli’s 2011 NFC title win - ( New Window )
And he had a stomach virus the week of that game, too.
I will go so far as to say I hope whatever he decides after this season works out for him. If he retires, he can walk away with his head held high. If he wants to continue playing, I sincerely hope he could land with a good team to make one more playoff run, provided it is not at the expense of the Giants. The last thing I want is him hanging on and stinking up the joint somewhere.
Very different but are the only 2 in the same catagory.....THANK YOU.
One of the most special shared moments in my life with my son was at his 2nd Super Bowl.....the Manningham catch occurs right in front .....BB saw it clearly but knew he had to challenge it....as it was the beginning of the end. What a special night!
16 years....you are the only QB my kids know...words do not do it justice, what Eli means to us.
Sitting with my son and Feeling that Brady and Wes Walker was driving for a clinchinng TD in Indianopolis....I sold the Giants into 10 years of losing....if somehow, we can win this Super Bowl. Then Wes drops a critical 3rd down....momments later, you lead us to victory starting with the Manningham catch...
But
7 years later....realizing my curse was running its course.
Thanks for being one of the highest character players to ever put on a jersey. O, and thanks for the two rings. Our family loves you and will miss you! Go Giants
and he was durable, might never see that part again.
In all honesty, he should retire after this season.
Just can't see him hanging around holding a clipboard as a
backup QB, just don't see it.
I appreciate what he did around here though, it was just time, actually it was time a couple of years ago...
to 2 games in 2007, green bay and minnasota, i cursed you for the interceptions you threw in 2 blowout games, declaring we wasted a pick. Thank God i was wrong. You have become the true champion that was expected , both on and of the field. Thank you for all the years you were QB for us and role model for all. You will retire as one of the greatest giants to play for us. God bless
Sitting in my recliner watching the draft in 2004 with my brother and best friend, I was so disappointed when the Chargers took you #1 overall and then so excited when the trade happened. The first Super Bowl was probably the best year ever for me, watching you hoist the Lombardi Trophy weeks before my daughter was to be born was simply amazing. To this day she wears your jersey on Sundays and I will now frame and hang that little #10 in my game room. The helmet catch, the throw to Manningham down the sideline, 2 wins over Tom Brady! You are the man and always will be.
You will forever hold a special place in my heart bro.
Sorry the franchise couldn't stick with the George Young/Ernie Accorsi mantra. Offensive line, pass rushers, along with the QB, and recievers after that. He was 1-00% class all the way, I could never had kept my mouth shut, I know that. I pray Jones doesn't get fucking killed this season.
over the passing of the torch from one player to the next in any sport.
For the last 7 years or so I've been hoping (and almost expecting) to see Eli turn in such a monster year that critics would just shut up and give him his due. For one reason or another, that year never happened. Now his time with the NYG is almost over. It's sad, but Eli has had a great career with wonderful accomplishments. He needs to apologize to no one.
In a way, Manning's critics and deriders made me love him that much more. You knew the over-the-line fun-poking and general critique had to bother Eli – but you never saw the impact on him. It didn't affect his play, his decision-making, and his relationship with the press. Pure class. He was a vulnerable hero and his very vulnerability makes this day even more bittersweet.
I really hope that Eli does get traded to a contender. I am quite aware of the reasons why this might never happen, but it would be so great to see #10 fighting for the Lombardi one last time.
Thank you Eli...the greatest QB this franchise has ever had.
you may be the best QB that the giants have ever had and will ever get. You got caught in the scramble by this new group to save their own jobs if this team continues to collapse and miss the post season. Wish DJ the best and hope he shows the resilence and class that you have.
I own 2 jerseys #56 and #10. In my lifetime, I was fortunate enough to see the 2 best players in team history and both of them led the Giants to 2 SB wins.
The 2007 win will always be extra special. My Dad died in 2009 from Louie Body Syndrome, a form of dementia. He still had enough awareness to watch and enjoy the 2007 SB win. By the following fall, he was no longer capable of watching a football game.
So thank you Eli for carrying the Giants to a most improbable SB win, providing my family our last possible opportunity to enjoy it with my father.
Not to mention all the great things he did off the field.
SB 42 alone...damn what a night that was!
And more importantly one of my favorite people of all time.
When people say the word class, I think of you first.
Thanks for the memories.
And he had a stomach virus the week of that game, too.
God bless you
The run to get there was pretty special too.
Fuck the haters.

You set an incredible example and are going to be a tough act to follow.

I also believe they were a top 10 defense that year.
The second half of the season, they couldn't even score
20 points in a game IIRC.
You will forever hold a special place in my heart bro.

+Smiles+
Isn't this a little premature?
