A lot of fans were upset that we passed on Sweat and drafted Lawrence. Admittedly, it is very early in their careers, but Sweat this season has had zero QB hits or pressures as the starting OLB for the Redskins. I've watched a lot of the Skins, Sweat has zero moves. All he does is run up field and if he doesn't win with speed, he's done. Meanwhile, Lawrence while he is not lighting the world on fire, seems to be doing a good job clogging the middle and has several QB pressures. Allen hasn't done a whole lot either. Possible cautionary tale on drafting edge rushers who rely on speed alone.
Lawrence is going to be a very good player for us for many years.
It early. They're all rookies.

Yeah all the mouthbreathers are screaming about Snacks and taking Lawrence and grabbing a passrusher with that spot. Well the only one available in that vicinity was Sweat. They forget to mention he hasn't done much either in two weeks.
Lawrence is going to be one of those guys who absolutely controls the line of scrimmage. Look at what Ngata did for the Ravens defense.
Especially considering 4 of those quarters for each player came against one of the top OL in the league...
It's...special.

Yeah, I think this is just a symptom of most things are bad, so everything must be bad.
I thought Lawrence was a really good pick and expect him to be a key cog on this defensive line for a while.
And it's also no more ridiculous than Giants fans who want to damn the Baker and Lawrence picks already
Dexter Lawrence had a mightily impressive performance in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills and dominated in almost every facet of play. He earned 65.0-plus grades as a run defender (78.0), tackler (70.0) and pass-rusher (65.3) after he recorded three hurries and three defensive stops on his 34 defensive snaps. He ended the week with an 82.2 overall grade that ranked 11th among 111 interior defenders who saw meaningful action this Sunday.
Sweat had his heart condition that made him a chancy pick.
I'm thinking that most good DTs usually take 2-3 seasons to really produce and so they are brought along slowly. I think watching the 2021 Lawrence is going to be special.

bbi would be in complete hysterics if he did that for the Giants.
Just wait until we start getting the Jones/Haskins threads. Over/Under on that is next Monday morning.

He mentioned he really likes to play in the mid 320s and was hoping to be there in training camp but I never saw any follow up from the press about it.
I agree with Eric that he can have a Ngata-like impact for our D.
I said this about him in Sy's game review thread -- that while he carries his immense size very cleanly, I don't think he is yet in shape to handle much more workload than he's already receiving. Very excited to see him continue to make plays this year and then a full offseason to work on his conditioning and he can be scary.
That just shows me that we as a team don't have a plan.. and that sucks..

That and we invested in DT and BJ Hill who all give you the same strength.. you can't have 3 players who all have the same weakness, plan on the same DL and expect to get pressure.. DG should have assessed what he had inherited and either moved on from the others or drafted someone who can compliment them..
Obviously if D. Jones is good that's an important piece. Understatement.

Lawrence showed good pass rush abilities as a frosh, and then hurt his ankle. Not saying that they're right, but I think the Giants felt that Lawrence could become a good interior pass rusher as well as a run stuffer. He's also 9 years younger than Snacks.
He might brush a RB on the arm and get a penalty....
I don't doubt that.. I also agree with the other poster that you put him next to 2 DE.. we put him next to 2 strong and slower DT and called them DE.. Its the plan I hate.. not the player.. Lawrence was the best DL on a team with the best DL in college..

That's his skillset and he's great at it. He will be Snacks2.0, give him time.

that is how a 3-4 works, the dedensive ends are usually dts in a 4-3...
giants need to get better linebackers but the 3 down lineman are fine

He stands out to me. We have two solutions on the DL with Lawrence and hill. Thomlinson is solid but I’d like an additional blue chip talent there as well to push the group forward. DL is by far the best unit on D but it needs one more player.

Good thing is that Lawrence can play in a 3-4 or a 4-3. Betcher sucks. He’s pretty much done about as bad a job as possible. Keep saying it but he’s Tim Lewis.

To clarify.. the DEs in 3-4 are more like 3 tech DT.. pass rushing types.. our DE are not like that.. these guys are DT in both 3-4 and 4-3..Hill may be.. but Tomlinson definitely can't he Used as an Effective DE..
