With a rookie, brand-new QB, I think they are going to have to increase Barkley's workload to keep the pressure off Jones. This is something many of us have been clamoring for; I hope it happens.

should turn Jones into the running QB they've always needed and give tired old Barkley a few more rest games.

Jones is a much better screen QB then Eli

Jones also may be one of the fastest QBs in the league and is a legitimate threat to run the ball to keep the defense honest. He adds a dimension to the game Shurmer craves and is somewhat foundational to his offense, so much so, that I think there were some heated behind the scenes discussions re: Eli/Jones between Mara/Tisch/DG/Shurmur before the season started. In fact I think they had pre-determined if they went 0-2, unless Eli played lights out he was going to be overtaken as the starting QB.

with Eli, yes.... why do you think Shurmur made the move?

I love Eli, he cannot operate Shurmur's offense and he's feeling the heat at 0-2. I believe that's one of the reasons for the change. He wasn't going to get fired or put on the hot seat when his offense wasn't properly being executed.

They sure let Jones throw deep in preseason. Why bother?
