he is the HC.. this is the kinda bullshit a HC has to do in a fucked up team that dictates to him that Eli stays.. You can't run a team like that.. you hire a competent coach and let him deal with players.. if in the long term the success isn't there then you blame him and fire him.. but the HC should be able to bench someone at will and without repercussions...
more stupid than thinking a coach makes a decision just to spite a player, GM, owner or the fans.
I'm sure his thought process wasn't "I'm not giving Barkley the ball so I can lose the first two games and get Eli the hell out of here." That's just absurd and idiotic thinking.
When your opponent scores 3 straight TDs in the late 1st/2nd Q in back to back weeks it shifts your play calling.
See I don't get his line of thinking. Even at half it wasn't to the point of abandoning the run.
Throw in the fact had he committed to it more in the 1st half they might've kept the ball away from Buffalo and helped the D. Not to mention he was relying on our #'s 4-6 WR's in the passing game vs a very good DB group and pass rush team.
Seems to me it would've made more sense to figure out something with the run game and use our best weapon more than going away from him.
And it's hard to know how many plays Eli audibled out of runs due to the D alignment.
Where is he ranked in carries and receptions for RBs?
Read option, not RPO
Except when you have a RB with a track record of going 59 yards on 1 play.
Oh yeah? Where does he rank in carries?
Quote:
second in the league is rushing
Oh yeah? Where does he rank in carries?
if you add how many times he's been targeted in the passing game its more than Dalvin Cook
but to say Shurmur purposely sandbagged him is just not accurate. Shurmur needs to win games
Maybe, but not out of the question.
