Shurmur OC/HC Offensive Track Record

V.I.G. : 9/17/2019 5:35 pm
2009 Rams OC, 32nd, Bulger / Bowler
2010 Rams OC, 26th, Bradford
2011 Browns HC, 30th, Colt McCoy / Seneca Wallace
2012 Browns HC, 24th, Brandon Weeden
2013 Eagles OC*, 4th, Foles / Vick
2014 Eagles OC*, 3rd, Foles / Sanchez
2016 Vikes OC, 23rd, Bradford
2017 Vikes OC, 10th, Keenum
2018 NYG HC, 16th, Manning

*You want to make the argument that this was Chip Kelly, I'm not going to put up a fight.

He's had some terrible QBs most of his career. 10th with Keenum. When he had Manning it was behind one of the worst lines in NFL history and it was still 16th.

Let's see what Shurmur can do with this kid.
He may have the best QB of his career now.

I think his offensive game planning and calls the first two weeks...

have been mediocre. Not enough Barkley especially considering our unimpressive assortment of available JAG receivers. Failure to emphasize this O-lines strength which is OG thru OG in the running game. This has denied Eli his best attribute which is play action to the deep intermediate level. I'm now very worried about our HC.

Completely agree.

His insistence on running his O instead of coming up with something that works for the talent that was out there is troublesome to me. That and not being able to make in game adjustments.

If it was fist drive of the game to score wins, he'd be coach of the year.

Points out Foles and Keenum have still put up numbers without Shurmur. I really like guy but there have definitely been more than a few head scratching personnel moves and in game strategies.

I'm really hoping Jones' skill set suits his system better and everything starts to click at some point this year.
It is the right move

But I’m expecting growing pains.

Shurmur's ceiling seems to be one good series a game. Maybe if the games were a year long each, he'd be able to spin up a cogent gameplan for each drive.

Because getting a sensible play out every 40 seconds seems like a real struggle.
