Dumb ? probably, but I'm assuming #10 gets retired?

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 9/17/2019 9:15 pm
I can't imagine another Giant ever wearing the # again. Selifishly, I hope Eli announces his retirement prior to the Eagles season finale & they do it pre-game/half time. That'd be pretty cool, as I reach for Kleenexes.
Thats the lock of the century

I don’t think teams really retire numbers
bradshaw44 : 9/17/2019 9:17 pm : link
Any longer due to lack of numbers. Ring of honor is the play these days. But I would love if they made an exception this one time.
They don’t retire
darren in pdx : 9/17/2019 9:17 pm : link
numbers anymore, that’s what the Ring of Honor is for. Probably won’t see a QB wear 10 for a bit though.
I think
Fred in Atlanta : 9/17/2019 9:19 pm : link
They have said they stopped retiring numbers. He will go in the ring of honor which is the modern equilivent.

True, but Eli’s gets retired. Slam dunk.
QB numbers are much easier to retire
Steve in ATL : 9/17/2019 9:21 pm : link
than position players given the league number rules.

I think #10 gets retired.

Yeah, I think Eli's #10 gets retired.
Number Question
Jim in NH : 9/17/2019 9:25 pm : link
Are 11 and 14 retired?
Got to retire 10
Sneakers O'toole : 9/17/2019 9:37 pm : link
Don't care what they said before.
Strahan retired 12 season ago and
morrison40 : 9/17/2019 9:37 pm : link
They have neither retired or ever issued his # 92 to anyone. So they have a odd way of not retiring but in reality retiring #s to team icons, which Eli certainly is !
IIRC the Giants announced in the past that they have
markky : 9/17/2019 9:38 pm : link
stopped retiring numbers. but I would bet against anyone else wearing that number for the Giants in my lifetime.
Nobody will be wearing it any time soon
jcn56 : 9/17/2019 9:45 pm : link
that they might not formally retire it doesn't really matter.
Need to be retired

Maybe do 10 and 92 on the same day

I want both of those numbers retired. Absolutely.

Agreed I don't care what they've said in the past
Leg of Theismann : 9/17/2019 9:53 pm : link
#10 has to be retired. End of story. Even before #92. Although I know that could cause a lot of controversy if they do Eli's but not Strahan's.

Maybe as another poster said they'll do both the same night (similar to Simms and LT back in the day... ugh I actually remember watching that MNF game as a youngster, Emmitt breaking free through a dumpster-truck-size hole for an easy 50 yd TD run. Those were the ugly days.)

This.
I would give the number to a player

who played Safety at Michigan State and plays linebacker for the Giants

No one else should wear #10. I'm sure Brad Van Pelt would agree too.

I'm sure he would have... BvP passed away in 2009.
Interesting factoid about Van Pelt getting #10...
BamaBlue : 9/18/2019 7:47 am : link
he was the 2d draft pick in '73 and the NFL had a requirement for linebackers to have a number in the 50's. Van Pelt was able to keep his college number (10), because he was the Giants backup kicker.
