He might not have the offers he has always thought he deserved after being hurt all year but I still think someone will offer him enough and perhaps a chance to close for him to walk.
I think it iis unlikely that the Yanks bring him back now Â
The shoulder was already a question- one that hasn't really been answered- and now with this injury- surgery or no, he is almost certain to miss a portion of next year. For frame of reference, Britton had a very similar injury a while back, and missed a chunk of the next season- and took almost a year to round into usable form.
Someone will give Betances a rehab deal- one year to prove he is healthy, with a team option. However, the closer money that he would have been looking for in FA this winter is almost certainly gone.
I am sure that he will explore a deal with the Yanks. However, with question marks over this heel and shoulder, I don't think the Yanks will go out of their way to sign him.
did not pay the piper. This is just not possible that this many injuries could happen within 40 or 50 players. They had better hire a shaman to do an exorcism.
and spent his entire life in NY. Yanks priorize bullpen. I imagine they'll work something out. He makes 7.25M this year. I imagine a 3y/27M or the like deal gets done. Unless, of course, major surgery is needed on his achilles.

They might wait and see if Chapman opts out first.
If he doesn't, not sure they bring him back.
He won't get a three year deal, when he hasn't pitched all season, except for two batters.
Just bad timing for him, and timing is everything.
because this takes alot of money out of his pocket. It also takes an important asset out of our BP heading into a postseason where we are counting on that BP.
I hope that wasn't his last game as a Yankee. I hope they give him a 1 year deal with an option.

It and it does. Certainly changes the calculus for playoff baseball. Everyone was counting on having him back.
