I'm not being argumentative or expressing an opinion, these are just the facts. 2014-2016 were his best statswise seasons.
Eli threw for almost 5000 yards in 2011 with an average yard per attempt over eight.
'16 isn't close to that.
Average yard per attempt is a key stat and it dropped a full yard from '15 to '16.
And the most pertinent stat for a QB is to score points. 310 points in '16 was crap, 26th out of 32.
The yards per attempt had everything to do with McAdoo's new offensive scheme. Yes points went down, but the OL sucked for most of that (the OL was horrendous). Again as I have said, Eli was better in the SB years. The point I am making is he could still play at a high level until 2017. He hasn't sucked since 2013.
Think he showed some good potential. Plus can stretch D. He is another guy I would play a lot this yr unless he is truly not ready
If there was a decent return I would consider trading jackrabbit too
But on the fence with that. I actually think we could contend next yr and he may be helpful
would be great to see Beal ( 2nd half of season) and Ballantine too
Get love in a FS too
if we aren’t gonna be good I want top 5 pick so we can trade to someone needing a qb ( unless their is a real stud edge rusher or OT there)

and give him the opportunity to potentially hook up with another team (if he wants it).
I also don't know where locker room allegiances lie, but letting Eli go would send a definitive message that DJ is the guy and there is no questioning the coaching staff or going back. It would also eliminate this situation as a distraction.
Just a shame that in retrospect they didn't just let him go before the draft or even before preseason.
I don't get the sense that Eli wants that. If he did, we probably wouldn't have heard from his camp yesterday that he has no intention of waiving his NTC.
I'd have a hard time believing that's simply because he would want to collect his money from the Giants and get new money from another team - if that was his motivation, it would be incongruent from the man who has handled his whole career with class. So if he's not willing to waive his NTC to go to another team, and if he's not outright retiring right now, it's because on some level, he wants to see this through and finish this season with the Giants. If that's the case, why would the Giants release him?
Quite honestly, there's probably an element of not wanting to compound an already humbling experience by joining another team midseason and having to learn their offense while being expected to be some sort of savior (since the only teams that would presumably be interested are contenders who need a QB). Or worse, not being asked to be a savior at all (I'm not saying there wouldn't be a market for him, but he may just not want to risk the chance that there isn't).
Its amazing how people ignore the fact that Eli's two best statistical seasons were 2015 and 2016. Sure the team suck, at least on of those years, but it wasn't him not performing.
Not true. Eli's stats dipped noticeably from '15 to '16 and team points scored dropped more than a hundred from 420 to 310.
'16 was not one of Eli's top two stat years, far from it.
Not sure what you are talking about, here is 2014, 2015, 2016,.
I'm not being argumentative or expressing an opinion, these are just the facts. 2014-2016 were his best statswise seasons. Now 2017, 2018, and 2019 he dropped off noticably, however I don't think its correct to say he hasn't been good since 2013. Sure the team was bad for most of that, but Eli was doing his part to hold things up.
It's pretty clear there was a drop-off from 2015 to 2016.
I think you just got the years wrong when you said 2015-16 and probably meant 2014-15. It's ok to walk it back. Probably better than planting your flag in the ground to claim that 2016 was one of Eli's best seasons. That doesn't exactly paint Eli's career very well if that qualifies as one of his best years.

We scored 14, 10, 17, 19 and 19 in those games. Stats are very misleading without full context. Eli was slipping for a few years and 2016 was starting to be noticeable. The Oline had a LOT to do with it and that issue alone may have contributed where we are today- with Eli just seeming to be indecisive and sometimes expecting the sack.. Think of it this way, if Eli of today were in SuperBowl 42, he gets sacked on the miracle pass to Tyree as he would have been looking for the rush to bring him down.

2016, is when his decline started. He just wasn’t the same after years with a bad oline. Sometimes I wonder thoug, the Beckham Norman game changed a lot for the state of the franchise. Beckham continued his downward spiral and his connection to Eli wasn’t the same after that.
RE: RE: RE: Not trying to raise temperatures here but Â
That team was carried by luck and a spending spree that propped up a defense for 1 year. It was the first year that I started to question him as a starter. He was a different player in 2015 though. They had the same OL and personnel issues that they did in 2016-2018, but he was able to carry that offense to a Top 10 ranking. Who knows what it was...age, 5+ consecutive years of horrible OLs, bad coaching...but he wasn't the same after that year.

Same here. The offense was clearly not as productive, particularly inside red zone scoring points. There were several "wow" moments where OBJ took a slant to the house to gain the lead and the defense held on. But the threat of Eli at QB was dissipating with more conservative play, looking at the rush, inaccurate downfield throws and being less mobile within the pocket. In my view, fairly plainly.

Luckily for us there are a lot of teams in the market for a QB that will likely be picking high. Miami is a lock to take a QB 1st overall.
