Eli comeback vs Denver 2005

Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 9/18/2019 8:19 am
The real coming out party and the first trademark Eli comeback. I was there - still remember the roar of the stadium as Toomer grabbed the winner, and we still bust one friend for leaving early.

One of many great moments.

His last game-winning drive against the Cowboys in the season finale of his rookie year was a harbinger of things to come. I did not think so at the time
I was there too

I mentioned this play on the tribute video thread.

It absolutely should be in any highlight video or tri Ute video. It was the first time I said wow, we may have something with Eli. He is clutch. I too was at the game, went nuts and hugged the random guy in front of me as we jumped around screaming and yelling. For me, it was the moment I knew Eli had that poise and no matter the situation would be able to stay focused. It took ALOT of composure to complete that drive to win
This was the moment...

Great comeback

Definitely in the top 5 Eli regular season games. Up there with 11 Dallas, 11 NE, 06 Philly
I was there with my Dad

Best Giants game I've ever been to. Will never forget it.

Same - was at that game in the 3rd row 40 yard line, where it all went down.

All I remember, was seeing Strahan on the sidelines going bonkers, after that catch. The fans around me were going absolutely nuts.

Knew Eli was a keeper after that.

BBI brings up that Denver game

every year and I'm glad. I remember that turd, Romanowski taunting the Giants & fans when Denver took the go ahead TD late in the game.

Eli shoved their perfect record (13-0?) right up his ass. I hated that bitch. He actually spit in another player's face during a MNF game! Turned out (from other stories) Romanowski was a big pussy in real life, loaded to the max with steroids.

Toomer made a great catch!
Clutch Eli!

I was there too, what a great memory! The moment I became convinced that Eli was the right guy.
Eli was dynamite

and cool as a cucumber.

A total stud QB, with warts yes, but he was great.

As I posted yesterday on a couple threads

I was at Bailey's in Ballston Mall watching alone with other fans around as well. When he hit Toomer for the win me and total strangers were jumping and hugging because we knew we had our QB of the future. Great comeback.

I remember when we were down and the game looked lost and I thought well if this happens and that happens and this happens we have a chance. Half fooling myself at the time. And sure enough all the things I thought needed to happen, happened, culminating in the Eli to Toomer for the win.

Great day...

Umm... yeah. You're confusing the 2005 game with the 1998 game.

1. Broncos were 5-1 coming into the Meadowlands in 2005. They lost in Week 1. The 1998 Broncos were 13-0.

2. Eli was the QB in the 2005 game. Kent Graham was the QB in 1998.

3. Bill Romanowski retired in 2003. His last year in Denver was 2001.

4. However, Toomer made the game-winning catch in both games.

This was kind of the first real "Eli Moment" for me...

He just kept drifting and drifting back. I didn't think there was any way he'd find a window in the endzone the way the play was carrying him. But sure enough.. he found Amani back there and the crowd erupted.

It's a bummer to see it end this way for him, but I remember how exciting every game was just because of Eli when he first started out. Even if we weren't good - I wanted to watch every snap to see him play and see him develop.

Knowing we'll have that with Jones the rest of the way will be fun. There will be high moments, there will be times he struggles... but hopefully it's the dawn of a new era.
Remember it like it was yesterday.... It was electric.

Another funny thing I remember, was a group of guys on BBI trying to say it was a lucky garbage throw, and using still frames of highlights to show that he was looking where he was throwing it, just chucking it up there. The Eli debate raged strong even then!
was not looking, should have said.

Now that it's all said and done, you just have to kind of laugh....

at all of it.

It was a great time.

Romonowski was a pussy? Based on what insane criteria? Guy was an animal.
That was great, but I knew Eli was special in 2004

When he audibled to the run to beat Dallas to close out Week 17, that was balls.

Did it to Denver twice.

I remember Broncos calling Eli’s dagger a lucky pass. LOL!
