I hope the media would stop talking about trading Eli...

Captplanet : 9/18/2019 9:40 am
Every broadcast I have seen this morning has a segment on what's next for Eli.
Now, I love Eli and appreciate everything he has done for the Giant organization and Giant fans, but let's be real. No one is giving up a pick for Eli. The NFL has seen the same film that we have seen for the past 5 years.

I get the media needs to generate controversy and intrigue, but this is getting ridiculous. The same people who thought Eli should have been benched after the preseason, or cut after last season, or cut before the 2018 draft are openly wondering if he should be traded to Jacksonville or Pittsburgh. Why in the hell would Jacksonville or Pitt want Eli?

WTF

They need something to talk about

so clueless fans have something to bitch about.
Some are insisting we should release him

So Jones won't feel threatened.
I don’t pay attention to most of the media.

I follow Big Blue View on Facebook because I enjoy and respect Ed Valentine.

He does not believe Eli’s going anywhere, but for DISCUSSION PURPOSES ONLY, offered several scenarios. Here’s the Jax scenario:

Quote:

The Jags made Nick Foles a highly paid quarterback only to lose him in week 1 to a broken collar bone. Rooke Gardner Minshew has been exciting, but with Doug Marone and Tom Coughlin dealing with troubled waters in the locker room, a calming presence like Eli could be very attractive.

Again, salary cap space would be an obstacle that needs to be overcome in getting a deal done. The Jags have more room than Pittsburgh, but still not enough to absorb Eli’s contract.

However, things could get very interesting if Jalen Ramsey — who has requested a trade from Jacksonville — is added to the mix. The Giants might have to add draft compensation to sweeten the pot, but that would help make the money work and get the Giants a badly-needed piece for their own rebuild while reuniting Eli with Tom Coughlin.

He also added in another scenario, that the Colts have 42 million in cap space
Those in the trade or cut Eli camp, you had better hope Jones does

not get hurt, if he does you will not like what happens with Eli gone.

If Jones gets hurt and goes on IR it would probably be better to go with Tanney and tank so that they have a shot at Chase Young, Andrew Thomas, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III, or Walker Little.
That's your opinion

If I were Jacksonville, I'd have Tom on the phone with Eli making it happen.
If we could get some draft picks for Eli
Jeever : 9/18/2019 10:52 am : link
and Eli is willing you do it. Let's face it. This team is not very good at this point in the proceedings. We have young talent that needs some time to acclimate to the NFL. I don't want to see us tank but we'll be picking early in the next draft. Unless there's a 6'6" 230 lb WR with great hands and 4.3 speed I'd take the best edge rushers available with the first 2 picks and mostly defense with the rest.

there is no market for Eli. You are not getting anything for him. Anybody who follows the league knows this.
