Spoke in front of his locker. Summary:
Obviously disappointed but hes not dying.
Being a mentor was part of the deal.
Would do it over again knowing what he knows.
Didn't say whether he would waive no trade clause. Said he's going day by day and trying to learn how to run the scout team.
Seasons not over.
Feels wrong on many levels.
I see him moving on quickly to one of a half dozen teams that might want to rent him for this season.
Having him holding the clipboard will be tough to watch and tough on his ego. Then again he might prefer to cash the checks and cruise into retirement with zero pressure on him.
As far as the scout team goes why wouldn't Tanney do that?

If you learned anything from Eli over the past 15 years you wouldn't have even wasted the time to type something like this. I hope you all at some point appreciate the guy for being a class act and competitor because this type of athlete will be the exception rather than the norm going forward.

Huh? Since he has a no trade clause he can choose where he wants to go.

He should ask for his release if he wants to go somewhere else so it's 100% his decision where he winds up.

Not really - he can choose where he won't go. It's not the same thing.
Manning is the classiest of acts, and of course he will do it.
This should never had happened. A year of crash test dummy and stop gap, 2 games of keeping the seat warm, and now the scout team. Yikes.

I think he made it pretty clear that this is his choice. He wants to be here and, if he's here, he wants to do what he does.
I think people want him physically gone for their own sakes, not his or the team's.

Look hes old and immobile
Would you go out there in the NFL jungle not knowing if the new team could protect you as our line is now able to do?
No, no way. Thats what Joe Namath, and Joe Montana did, and no good came of it. They got thrashed. His brother went to a real SB contender. If he can find a situation like that. Its a maybe

Ugh. Yeah.

Manning stated he would do it the same in hindsight. I don't know if he was specifically asked that or offered that. If he offered it on his own I think that is worth a lot. I think he loves the NY Giants and would rather run the scout team this year than go someplace else.
Of course Eli answered it like a pro and said it was handled "as good as you can handle it."
haha!
But why would he run it now?
And who ran it the first two weeks?
